To renew or not to renew USMLERx ?

Hi fellow SDNers!

Ok, here's the deal :my USMLERx Qbank + flash facts combo subscription expires in 5 days and I am in two minds to renew it or not.

I use FA 2008 cuz I had it heavily annotated, so Rx was my only source to revv up my 08 edition on '10 standards.I started using this qbank 6 months ago.After finishing my thorough pass with FA in next few days/weeks ,I thought it would be great to redo the Qbank again. And ofcourse with all the sagic wisdom on binging on FA, Rx would be incredible to help me with that final crunch lap-during which FA will be meat of my study.

Right now I am not using Rx much, just some random time here n there.Also with the 39 bucks I'll have to shell out for 15 days renewal, I might as well take another NBME test ( Don't wanna renew with 59 bucks for a month).Also if I do renew, the 15 day period expires one week short of my test anyway.The flash facts are still 2009 version from what I noticed.During the qbank time on my schedule,I wanna review UW as much as possible 2x.I still have 23% of UW yet to complete with 4 weeks until D-day.


So to renew or not to renew Rx is the question.

i wouldnt renew it, sitting down and grinding through FA might be better at this point than doing rx

haha im in the same boat as you, mine expires in 4 days , im at 75% complete, im shot gunning through as many questions as I can in the next 4 days to get my moneys worth before I start USMLEWorld.

the bad part is that imgetting 60%s on Rx.. makes me terrified what USMLEWorld is gonna do to me.. albiet i havent even gone through all the material once yet.. still got six more weeks to go and im doing the DIT course in june

if you go through rx, uworld wont be that much harder, the main difference between rx and uw is the explanations and illustrations uw has.

I was in a similar situation last week. I opted to let Rx expire, but renew Flash Facts and switch to UWorld. I figured FF would still be helpful for drilling FA.

I like going through the flash cards after reading to help memorize what I just read, and then I only do random sets in UWorld. They're not gonna teach you anything new, but they're really good for stuff that's pure memorization. If you're a flashcard person, I think they're worth it for $50.

Yeah, I'm a big flashcard person generally (and that's why I'd want them here, so that I can reinforce what I just read in FA).

I actually have USMLERx's flashcards for Biochem on the iphone . . . I wonder how similar they are to the flashfacts in general.

I only have the free Path ones on my iphone, but those are the same as the ones online. The computer version though doesn't keep track of what you get right/wrong or allow you to randomize the order.

I was in a similar position and I renewed.
Not sure how much I'll use it in the next 2 weeks, but I figured $39 was worth it just in case I wanted to review some stuff.

I also might use it for a simulated exam or two just to get used to answering a bunch of questions at once.

I liked Rx. I wish I had done more before my board study period, because it really made me learn FA, cheaply(comparted to DIT) and efficiently(compared to reading it on your own over and over....).

But at this point, I rather just go with UWORLD to learn more.

Yep, so I relinquish Rx today.

Forgot to mention to you guys, I own the FA USMLE Q&A too, so figured I can make do with that in lieu of Rx anyway.
