NBME 11 predicted 247 and my exam is ~ 1 month away. Currently on second round of UWorld. I was planning to take NBME 12 in 1 week. If I get +/- 5 pts of 250 (goal), should I reschedule to a sooner date?? How soon?

I hope this is a joke, right?

Actually, no. I was pleasantly suprised with my score. I've been going pretty hard this past week and I'm afraid of being past my peak if I wait another 4 weeks. Don't know what to do!

so u're asking anonymous ppl on an online forum when you should take ur test?

No one can no but you; however, burning out is a real possibility (although some people have a high threshold against that then others). I have heard from plenty of people that after 6-7 weeks of going hardcore at studying for Step-I that they were ready to take it regardless of where they were scoring; they just wanted to be finished studying. I don't recall you saying how long you have been studying, but if you're happy with where you're scoring now and don't think the added time will yield you anymore points (or could in fact turn out to be a detriment due to burnout), then I would say why not move it up a couple weeks and just be finished with this stupid thing. Again, only you can know for sure, but it sounds like you may be wanting to just take it and be done with it (especially with such exceptional predicted scores anyways).

To be honest, this is a reasonable thought since the NBMEs are strong predictors. However the second pass of UWorld and final memorization of FA should help boost you considerably if you're still a month out. On the real exam, just be ultra-vigilant with question stems and not making careless errors. That on its own will get you some points.

I would say postpone if you were at NBME=237 and want 250, but the final month should be enough to push you 250+ (even 255+) if currently you are 247.

If ur date is still one month away, instead of rescheduling, I would stick to it and try my best to raise it in that time. I think you can def break a 250 if u just keep on going.. but do not extend man

Check the OP's original question...😛

It really just depends how much you have left that you want to study. If all you plan on doing is finish UWorld and some more first aid, then you could probably move it up about 2 weeks. If you have weak topics that you want to study in depth, your date might be fine.

It just comes down to how much more you want to do. If you're going to be done with everything soon and don't know what to study then move it up.

FYI. There have been studies done at my school of those on 8 week study plans.

Those who took a NMBE test at 6 weeks almost ALWAYS scored at that level or slightly better. Though, the extra 2 weeks usually didn't make much of a difference. Thus, if you've hit your target. It's better to do it now.

I've actually known people who've waited and their scores dropped from their peak. Take it when you're ready is the best advice to give. I'd maybe take another practice test. If the reality repeats itself....I'd just go for it.

Mdeast, how do you get the NBME exams? Can you download / pay for them or do you need to sit them somewhere? And considering there's quite a few of them, when would you say they should each be completed? Thanks,
