Hi guys; I don't trust my premed advisor's opinion as I think it will be skewed...

I can graduate this semester, which is great, but I still have not taken A&P II (but I have taken A&P I). Next semester I plan on studying for the MCAT and taking the test in April or May, however, I wonder if I should take A&P II while I study for the MCAT?

I guess my questions are just this:

Will A&P II help my application to med school?
Is it wise to take A&P II while studying for the MCAT?
Can I teach myself the MCAT-relevant information from A&P II?

Thanks in advance. 🙂

1. Nope- won't make a difference if you take this class or not for application reasons.

2. It might be- the physiology you learn should be pretty relevant for the MCAT.

3.Yea... can't say the material is that hard to learn on your own. I personally would not take it, so I could fully focus on the MCAT. It is a pretty time consuming class.

1. no i dont think it will make a difference. Never took A&P I or II and I think i doing pretty good for myself.
2. you can definitely study for any class while studying for MCAT. I was a full time student 17 credits working and doing research when I took the MCAT.
3. You can definitely teach yourself. I dont even think there is much from that class you need for the MCAT you will just have more info that can even make you look further in the question than necessary.

.....from my experience, Premed advisor have seen it all and are usually right... I never trusted mine until i got interviews... ITS UR CHOICE AT THE END OF THE DAY

Thanks so much to both of you, that's essentially what I expected. I've heard about advisors pushing students to take more classes at their school when it was unnecessary, so I'm not really inclined to ask mine.

Thanks again! 🙂
