If you were like me you took the DAT sometime Last year and you may have underestimated exactly how much work and effort was really required for this insanely difficult standardized test. You may have purchased the Kaplan blue book and carried it around with you in your school books pretending that you were studying it...but in reality you barely skimmed it and hoped upon a prayer that you would somehow be successful on the test without putting much work into it. As you left the testing center you could feel you heart sink as you read over and over the results of your under-preparation.

If you are like me (after the depression from DAT #1 wore off) you have reaped these forums for all they are worth over the last year: You have read dozens of breakdowns, studied in-depth strategies for each of the test sections, and gathered a pile of books and study plans that seem like there is no way that you are going to get through them. You now feel that even though you never went to Arizona State University, you somehow seem to tell all your friends about this DAT instructor named Chad who taught you what the freak a Keto-Enol Tautamerization is and got you excited about chemistry even though you struggled through it the first time. You have laughed when high school kids come into your work and see you studying the same A.P. Biology exam study book as they are. You may have even been lucky enough to feel absolutely destroyed by the Dat Destroyer.

That being said you have worked freaking hard over the last weeks and months and feel that you are almost at your limit. You have given up the things you like to do for what has to be done. I am writing this to inspire you to keep going. Join me and make these last few weeks the hardest that you have ever studied in your entire life. Go into that test feeling like there is nothing else you could have done to prepare better and that you honestly gave it your all.

Lets Beast this Test.

Thanks for the motivation, even though i'm taking it for the first time and this thread is for those who are retaking it. I'm still using it as motivation! I have been losing steam the last couple of days. I have mine 3 days after you take yours. Hopefully I get to read your 20+ breakdown and I will be able to put one up as well.. Good luck. Lets beast this dang thing!

It is really unfortunate (for you) that the DAT doesn't have a writing sample.

Best of luck!

PS: " You may have purchased the Kaplan blue book and carried it around with you in your school books pretending that you were studying it...but in reality you barely skimmed it and hoped upon a prayer that you would somehow be successful on the test without putting much work into it. " -lol'd, I am one of those guilty ones that did that 🙁 at some point in my life 🙄

If there was a like button I would have definitely pressed it by now... but I feel yeah let's rape this test!

Best post I've read in a while! Exactly my thoughts. I retake my test in 2 weeks from now and I needed the motivation to use up these days to the fullest. You have done this for me! Thank you. Good luck!

Awesome, Hoyle!

I know there are many others are spending the remainder of their summers working harder preparing for the DAT than they ever have for anything, putting in ten and twelve hour days in a musty library corner.... choking down the 5hr energy and somewhere in the back of their mind worrying about those summer class finals also swiftly approaching

thanks for the motivation and EVERYBODY KEEP PUSHING

Wow, Couldn't have said it better myself. This is exactly what I needed to hear!! Good luck to you all!

DAT: AUG 6th 2010

YES!!! I have spent all summer studying and taking summer classes. Friends would be like "hey we are having a lake party you should come!" ,which is tomorrow 🙁,
I would be like no I have to finish up reviewing Chad's video.

Lets make this DAT our high class skank.

I know that alot of you on this thread are retaking, and I know at the end how hard it is to just maintain focus. Dont give up. 6 days before my test I reviewed all cliffs. I went up to my school and set a 1 hour limit for each section with a 15 minute break between chapters. I reviewed the whole section by drawing on white board and then answered questions. I just did this with cliffs and supplemented w/KBB for extra diagrams. I also read chapters 19-21 and the cell chapters in campbells. It had been a month in a half since I had previously reviewed bio. For chemistry I reviewed all chads videos and wrote out his lectures on the white board. The concepts i struggled with i viewed multiple times. I took at least 1 whole natural science sections test daily and every other day did a full exam. I did light review the day before" very very light". I felt great the next day. In total i spent 11-14 hours a day studying from 8:30 am to 11:00 for the last 6 days. It was tough but you can get through it. If you need some extra inspiration or motivation check out my improvement from my first test below! Believe me if I can do it I bet you can too. It just takes some work and dedication.

Sorry I had to take a break from studying to bump this. I got a call tonight from a good friend from high school. He actually just graduated Dental School and is now working as an actual dentist. Talking to him really inspired me and for once I was able to picture myself succeeding and actually being a Dental student.

Keep up the hard work guys. Joooooo Caaaaaan Dooooo iiiiiiiiittttttt!!!!

👍

love it dude. Its time to visualize yourself destroying the exam. Put in the work and the prize will come.

Next Monday at this time I would be getting closer to complete my QR session... I was so freaking out till I read this again just now...

Thanks for the inspiration and I really want to conquer this beast... enough is enough... I want the pleasure of succeeding....and ofcourse my life back...
