Are you all in the active status were you are in line to begin verification or are you in the verification status? I am still in the active status just wondering how long before they begin verification. Yes, all my transcripts have been received...

i'm still in line to begin verification also.
i've been in the active state for almost a week now. how long do you think it takes to start verification and how long will the process of verification take in itself?

I have no clue and that is why hopefull some folks will give us some insight, I know the wait to begin verification is killing me. I just worry that something will be missing and the longer it takes the worse, but we are still early in the process. I have spoken with two medical schools and they will not even download until the 15th of July...

Mine was "Active" on 6/16 and is still "In line to begin the verification process..."

From my personal experience last year, I submitted on 8/2 and it was verified and transmitted on 8/28. I don't remember when the transition from Active to Verifiying to Transmitted took, however. Although this is a different year so this doesn't really mean anything for this cycle.

Hope it gets rolling soon...

I submitted on the 25th & as of this morning they have finished verifying my application.

I submitted mine on the 25th and am also in line for verification- congrats on getting yours verified! I hope we can all be that lucky

I have a hard time believing this...

The verification process probably does not take very long. maybe a day or two at most, if it all goes well. After all, all they have to do it check that your grades and courses match the ones on the transcript.

The 4-6 weeks is probably the result of being in the line. Prior to the 24th, my guess is that the apps came in at a regular slow clip. After the 24th, I would not at all be surprised if the apps start coming in at a geometric or exponential rate. Hence, it's easy to see why an app submitted on the 25th takes only a couple of days. But one submitted on the 30th might take a month or more.

Just my rough guesses on how it all works out.

It would certainly have been nice to be verified by the 15th of July. But, I only went active today, and am not confident that my app will be verified before 8/1, if even then.

I know that seems strange because some folks submitted on the 24th and are still in the "active" stage. bjolly can you give us more insight into this? if you clicked submit on the 25th the verification is already complete? did you receive an e-mail regarding this issue? I also submitted on the 25th and they have not even started verifying my application....

My check card just went through for 510.00 about 10 minutes ago. So how do we know what stage we are in at a given time? Is there somewhere on the amcas aite that shows this? Also, some of my sections are X'ed out, but some aren't. For ex, my biographic info isn't X'ed out. Does this mean I can still change this?

Hahaha....i know you guys are anxious but having gone through the process this year, if there's already this much stress with the AMCAS verification date, your patience is REALLY gonna be tested when it comes to secondaries and interviews. Just take easy and remember that most schools won't even start sending secondaries and consider apps till late july anyways so even if you submit amcas in july you're still pretty early.

beats me, I guess I just got lucky? I was really surprised to see that verification was complete when I checked this morning. I didn't get an email but when I pull up the site it says that my application has completed processing. And when I pull up the print version of my application, it shows all the classes as verified, with a few corrected ones. (They changed my freshman astronomy class from natural/physical sciences to BCPM, even though it wasn't given under the physics dept. Go figure.)

The only thing I can think of is that I applied Early Decision to my state school. Maybe EDP apps go in a different pile?

I hope everyone else's will come through soon. This process is stressful enough without waiting weeks for AMCAS to do it's thing!

Yeah, I think so. That makes sense for ED.

AMCAS charged my account yesterday, hmmm maybe this means that they will start verifying my application soon. Anyone know for sure?

I submitted EDP 6/3/03. I have been in verification status for well over the 15 working days they suggest. I submitted early in hopes of being complete by today, the supposed first day schools can access the application.😳

I submitted on the 20th and was processed/verified on the 27th. Maybe it has something to do with me being a reapplicant.

well, i just got processed, exactly a week after my file was activated
does being processed mean that they verified me?
in itself, the verification process seems to have taken a few hours.
hope everyone else's files get processed just as fast

Okay this is good, exactly when (yes, I am neurotic please bear with me he he) did you click the submit button? last Tuesday? and did you ever seen on your application that you were in the verification status or did it just say active for a whole week? if you have been processed it means (I think) that you have been already verified and everything is good...print out your application and it well tell you what courses if any AMCAS changed, etc...

Check your AMCAS verified transcript carefully. Call them if there is ANYTHING you find at all confusing or seems odd. Don't be afraid to ask your premed advisor if there seems to be something amiss.

Last year, AMCAS wrongly coded the years for my grades. I called them about it, and they told me that was they way that they coded grades for my program (I did Running Start in HS). However, medical schools did not view things this way, and as a result, I was rejected pre-secondary from some schools that I should have made first cut for. The problem did not become apparent until I had an interview in December. It's no fun to be at an interview and have them ask why they don't have grades for your junior and senior years of college.

The application process is stressful enough without the added stress of AMCAS screwups (and there are bound to be some). It's far better to catch such things early.

Best of luck to all of you in the application process.

I spoke to someone at AMCAS today and he said there is absolutely no possible way that someone's app was verified in 7 days.

I called because I am a reapplicant who submitted on 6/16 and have been active since that day...and am still "in line to begin verification..." ( All of my transcripts are complete and have been in for more than a month). So basically I wanted to make sure there wasn't a problem seeing as how people who submitted only last week are claiming to be already verified, and he told me that it is impossible for someone to be verified that quickly...

😕

I am not calling anyone here a liar... I am just a tad confused and anxious for mine to be processed!

Okay, I hope that someone can please please elaborate..so we do not freak out!! ahhhhh!!! no, just kidding. To the above poster, you may want to call again and talk to someone else and hopefully get the same answer. Everytime I have called AMCAS for the same question I swear that I have received different answers go figure.

Angeliqua, I think mine may have been processed fast because it was an early decision application---that's the only thing I can think of. But then momof2 applied EDP ahead of me and is still waiting. Maybe there' s no rhyme or reason to any of it. Honestly, I kept pulling up the screen over and over because I couldn't believe it was really verified that soon.

Were they able to give you any idea how much longer yours should be? keeping my fingers crossed that everyone's comes through soon.

bjolly may have a point. Perhaps they have different people working on it and you guys happened to have gotten the slacker.

Heres a portion of my amcas with the dates.

I believe you guys! Sorry, I am just annoyed because (as we all know) you have to sit on hold for 20 minutes to talk to someone who isn't very helpful at AMCAS....

I am usually not this neurotic, must be the heat 😛

hey
I just checked my status today and I have been processed!- I submitted mine on the 24th, not the 25th- I think that AMCAS is random in how they process the forms- hopefully everyone who submitted it earlier will get processed soon
best of luck

Great! well, did you ever see your screen go from active to anything else? It sounds like you go straight from active to processed? let me know. I have nothing else to do but obsess over this whole process. We must stay to gether with this folks! Hopefully we can sooner than later hail ourselves as the class of 2008!

mine went straight from active status (waiting for verification) to processed
momof-maybe you should call AMCAS again and politely ask why it is appearing to take so long- it might be a computer glitch or something- if you submitted it on 6/3, there should not have been hardly anyone in front of you- just talk to someone and be really nice- hopefully, they will take the initiative and do it for you!

I think it goes straight to processed. I submitted on June 3 and it was processed almost right away. It still says processed, and doesn't look like it's been transmitted to schools yet, although I called and they told me that it would be transmitted today. The transmission date is still blank. Doesn't look like you are behind🙂
I know what you mean about not having anything to do besides obsess over this, my job is incredibly slow and I'm so glad I found this site to keep me busy (or give me something else to do besides see if my app was transmitted to schools!).

Yeah for the class of 2008!!!!!

From my experience you have to be forceful with amcas. I nearly exploded on the phone once when dealing with them. I don't condone becoming irrate with them but sometimes you just have to put your foot down.

Hi Everyone,

I just checked my AMCAS status and it's now been processed! I submitted on 6/24 and then resubmitted on 6/26 after adding another school to my list. I'm not a reapplicant, nor applying EDP. But I did have an easy transcript to verify. Good luck to you all!

efex101, any luck so far?

it seems everyone's getting processed all of a sudden. i know that today was the first day that our applications would be available to med schools, but does anyone know around when they'll really start looking?
thanks

rCubed I submitted mine on the 25th so today is one week after D-day, so I am going to see what happens by the end of the day. I have one long transcript with most of my classes, one short one with only one class, and then AARTS (military type transcript). So maybe mine will take longer to process? was yours complicated or easy? everyone please let's keep this thread going, here is to US a bunch of neurotic have nothing else to do but check SDN pre-meds doctor wannabes, he he....

mine was just one transcript with all my classes
hope today's ur lucky day

I just talked to AMCAS and they said that even though my app is processed, the schools will not start downloading until July 15th- so basically, if you get yours processed by then you are in the same pool as everyone before- he said that the schools do not have a list of who got processed first, so it will be one more random process!!

Did you have more than one transcript? I am trying to figure out if those with easier (only one transcript versus three or more) get processed earlier.....

Well, my application has not been processed yet. Did anyone that submit late on the 25th (after 5:00 PM) get processed?

have they received all your transcripts?

The process time is somewhat quick (2-14 days) if your transcripts have been recieved. Submitted 6/25 and processed about a week later. Generally, if you have more than 3 transcripts your going to be waiting like me, but one transcript 'easy' verifications are likely to be a 2-3 day event.

I wouldnt be that concerned just yet. Wait til Tues or Weds and if still nothing... then I'd give AMCAS a call.

Okay, if anyone has been processed that submitted on the 26 of June please let me know. This would mean that they are NOT going in the order of submission which is what AMCAS says. Then I can get on the phone and see what is going on with my application.....

i submitted on the 22nd, went active on the 27th (they were waiting on transcripts) and now i'm processed...

although it looks like it doesn't matter if you submitted on june 1st or june 30th since the schools won't get them until mid-july...

man you guys are really on top of the ball with your apps! i'm still struggling to get my personal statement to sound good and to make good descriptions for my post-secondary experiences 😡 .

anyways, good luck!

submitted 6/23
active 6/24 or 6/25
processed 7/3 (went straight from active to processed)
nothing transmitted yet

They did a fantastic job; I had 3 transcripts with one non-standard % grade to AMCAS grade conversion, one from Canadian school, trimester system, etc. I was very nervous about what was going to happen with my GPA. It came out exactly as I had calculated it should be.

I'm guessing that it is totally random. I certified on the 27th and am still in line. I have three standard transcripts.

Hey Steinway,

So you submitted before they had all of your transcripts. If so, did your app become active BEFORE you received notification by email that they had your third transcript on file. The reason I ask is because I just sent them a transcript and was wondering whether I should submit before I get the "transcript received" email or wait to submit right when I get it. Thanks.

Damm, I hope that it is not random. I was hoping that they would verify as we submited. Judd, if yours get certified before mine then I will worry he he. Keep me posted.

Well, I submitted on the 27th of June. And as of this morning, i have been processed. I had 6 X's spread over 4 years of undergrad, 2 years of post bacc and 3 years of law school. So, as a percentage of classes I took, my X ratio seems to be OK. Still, 6 is a lot. I hate the fact that they don't actually say what it was about the entry that they did not like.

Nothing transmitted yet. But I am glad to be in the first batch.

Efex101, you are now free to rage about the cabin.

Judd

Ok, WTF!

I was active on 6/16, all 3 of my very straight-forward transcripts have been in for a looong time and...still in line. What is going on here? Has anyone out there NOT been processed who submitted prior to the 22-27? Plus, I am a reapplicant...not a whole lot of new info for them to verify.

I guess as long as they do it by 7/15 I'm ok...
