Could someone please explain why B can’t be the answer? I don’t know get why the rat wouldn’t know that it gets a reward if he presses the lever once per interval

Fixed Interval -reinforces after a constant amount of time
Variable Interval - reinforces after a changing amount of time
Fixed Ratio - reinforces after a fixed number of responses (or lever presses)
Variable Ratio - reinforces after a variable number of responses (or lever presses)

The rat will have it's lever presses reinforced after a certain amount of time has elapsed. Each of these reinforcement schedules produce different patterns of behavior-specifically response rates that differ.

In a Fixed Interval, the rate of responses would accelerate as the time of reinforcement approaches. While a Variable Interval would produce a steadier rate of responses like the option B. So C would be the answer, because it starts of slow but increases as the end of the interval approaches.
