good score your score 103 on ibt is equivalent to 250-260 on CBT , most of the american dental schools loook for 240-250 above score CBT version , as per the information i found in most of the dental school websites.

You are on safe side , chill out

pls share your experience , either in this thread or pm me

thanks

i think the material sold by ww.ets.org should be better, coz they are the people who conduct the exam , and they say that they are selling you materials prpeared out of old real toefl papers.

I will be taking the TOEFL on July 29th, kind of nervous because of IBT, not good at typing and accent issues.

going thru the official ETS guide & princton but still not confident. Can some one please share your experiences.

Hey everybody,
I recentlytook my exam and scored 107 with 27 in speaking. I just saw it in the ucsf application requirements that the min score for speaking section should be 28. How many of us will be able to fulfill that requirement. So what if we scored 27. Will our application be considered or will they say that we did not meet their requirements. How bad it would feel to have reasonably good nbde score but application was not considered because we did not meet the toefl requirements. That would be the worst thing i can think of.

😡 you are right. even i scored 106 which is equivalent to around 270 in cbt with 26 in speaking section. i mailed to this university regarding this and they replied they wont be considering applications with lower marks than required. so what can we do now, take the test again which obviously will not guarantee that u will get 28.although the total score required by the university is b/w 95-100. 🙁

I will be taking my TOEFL on july 29th but really scared about the speaking part, more over i'm not that much familiar with typing. any ways i have no option.

CBT guys are lucky, I guess they don't have the speaking part.

It is really difficult to take 28/30 as required by UCSF but UCLA is reasonalble, their req are

* Writing: 25
* Speaking: 24
* Reading: 21
* Listening: 17
* Total minimum passing score: 87

I took the iBT 3 weeks ago, it's not easy but not difficult... but I think it gives an excellent assessment of your English language skills.. I thought I did bad in speaking section (I spoke for only 10 seconds then remaied silent in one of the questions) but my grade was good enough

reading: 29
writing: 30
listening: 30
speaking: 28

total: 117/120

good luck to all of you

You shouldn't be scared.. there is nothing terrifying about it.. In fact I didn't expect such scores, I thought I would get 110.. the most important thing is to take the sample test on the Toefl's web site, it should familiarize you with the real test's format.

regarding the reading section, try to get the main ideas quickly, do not try to understand every single phrase.. read the question first to know what to look for... it's very long.. try not to get bored!

Writing: use short clear phrases.. start your paragraph with the main idea then elaborate.. try to use some strong words to show that you have good vocabulary and try to limit your responses to the indicated number of words per each question.

Speaking: try to practice at home.. record your answers and hear them again.. when preparing your answer do not write your responses.. just try to write down key words.

listening: I think it was quite easy, take notes during listening.. and some practice would help you too..

hope this helps

Good luck

Hi Ramzi,

Thanks for the detailed reply.

I'm also as scared as dentsh1 if not more.

I will also be taking the TOEFL shortly and practicing regularly but still have a fear about the new format.

Please follow this posting and help members like us who need your help and encouragement.

hi guys i took toefl cbt 10 months ago. i got a 277/300. i am planning to take up my ndbe in a couple of months. is my score ok, or will an ibt be expected out of me? plz guide me....

Hi All,

Minimum Speaking requirements for IBT TOEFL is no more 28 but only 24 for UCSF applicants.

I just called the UCSF and they confirmed that the policy has been changed last week and will reflect in the website in couple of days.

I think it is a great news to all who took TOEFL IBT and got less scores in speaking section.

I called UCSF several times for the past 2 months requesting them to reduce the miminum score limit and also requested many in the forum to do by sending personal msg but not many replied positively.

Unless we talk, nothing would work in this country.

It would be better if others also call UCSF @ 415 476 0589 and request them to update their website.

We should make sure, UCSF authorities are aware that many applicants will be affected bcoz of this TOEFL minimum requiremnt of 28 for speaking.

Hope you all would spend few mts of your time on this call and ensure that UCSF website is updated ASAP.
