Too good for VCU?

Never expect anything when it comes to med school admissions...It may very well be that they doubt you'll attend if accepted.

I was complete at VCU in October and I got an e-mail from them yesterday telling me they are interested in me but can't promise an interview to applicants at my priority score. What does "priority score" even mean? My MCATs are higher than their average (2+ points on each section higher) and my GPA is substantially higher as well. Does this mean they're targetting people within a certain range? I heard that Tufts engages in this type of practice- accepting kids they think will come, but I didn't hear of VCU doing this. Frankly, I'm not impressed with this method of admissions. I'm still in disbelief.

get over yourself. you were probably lacking with ECs or your LORs weren't up to par.

Sorry, I retract that post. I didn't mean to come off as obnoxious; just perplexed.

I got a similar message...i think it was "we will continue to review applications with your priority but cannot gurantee that everyone will be interviewed"

I got an interview the next day.

I got that message too. I wonder how they give us priority scores. I'm just a little confused how I can be good enough for Duke but not good enough for VCU 😕 B-real is right though... this process is soooo unpredictable and we should never expect anything 🙂 Whatever is meant to be will be 🙂

Each of the committee members ranks your file on a scale from 1-5. They drop the highest and lowest and average the rest of the scores. Thats how it works post interview.

Preinterview I think is a similar process with a subcommittee that only reviews files for interview
