I am already accepted to LECOM-Bradenton and have an interview at OUCOM next week, but I just recently have been reading about Nova and it is where I want to go. I was split between Bradenton and OU because I like Florida and the college town atmosphere, and Nova seems to offer both. Anyways, their deadline for AACOMAS is Jan 15, but they are on rolling admission. My MCAT is 26, GPA is 3.3 overall. Is it worth my time to try for Nova? I am having trouble even finding out how to add another school to my AACOMAS list on the website. Any help or comments on the school would be appreciated.

Also, I would have to forfeit my $1500 deposit to LECOM-b.

Sounds like you and I both applied to the same schools: OUCOM, LECOM, and NSUCOM. I *hated* LECOM-Erie when i visited there, and I was reluctant to go to Bradenton since the school has not really been established yet. So it came down to OUCOM and NSUCOM. Like you, I wanted to be in Florida and in a major city so that was a major factor in my decision. If you really want a "college town" atmosphere, OUCOM is probably one of the best anywhere. Fort Lauderdale has a lot to do and amazing nightlife, but it is a little more "upscale."

Can't speak too much about your stats, but it sounds like you've got a good shot at NSU (I had 3.5/30). If you're set on attending, I would get that application in now and really let them know that you didn't know much about NSU at first but now that you do you're really set on attending here. Just do it! Good luck!

I think you should try. Your stats is OK. Remember, they not only look at the stats, but also your personality and background. They want to make sure that you will be able to handle the workload in med school and become a great physician. As long as you have enough stats for an interview, then try your best to express yourself. Yes, the admission is base on rolling, but their class is more than 200. Each week, they interview on Monday and Friday (because of hurricane, they open for Wed also). Each day, they interview 8 people, so one week they interview 16. In order to fill the class, they must need at least 13 weeks (assume that they accept everyone that comes for interview, but this is not true). Therefore, if you try and get an interview in Jan or Feb, you still have a chance. You don't know until you try. Go for it. Good luck.

Please try to apply, it can never hurt (except your wallet) but i am confident you will at least land an interview, best of luck let us know what you decide, and your status of the application, if you get interviews, acceptances, etc

OK, I am going to mail in my late-school addition for Nova to AACOMAS Monday morning. The reason is that even if I don't get in, I don't want to go through my whole life wondering if I could have. And $1500 is alot to lose, but maybe one week's pay when I do become a DO, so not too bad. It's just money!

I have been waiting for AWHILE to hear back from them and I sent in my stuff long time ago. How long did you guys wait to hear bout an interview?? is it still early in the admissions process?? everytime i call they say they're still looking at my file. any advice???

definitely apply dude. it's a great place to go to school. i honestly haven't met a classmate who doesn't like it here (and i've got about 240 of them). friendly and supportive atmosphere makes it worth the hassle even if you're late. good luck.

I heard back relatively quickly from NSU, so I would recommend keep calling (not too much of course) 😉 What are your stats and do you have all your materials in (DO letter, etc)? Although they do invite before the file is complete, it wouldn't hurt to make sure everything is in. Good luck to you! 🙂

thats the same thing with me.. They keep telling me that my file is still under review.. It has been this way since Sept. Stats are 3.9GPA. Good EC background. 23Mcat... I really want to go there but I dont know who to talk to... ANy advice..

i sent in all my stuff around beginning or mid october. I've called like 3 times and they keep saying my file is under review.

i honestly think they just have too many applicants rite now..and so it takes a little longer for them to decide who to interview..who not to interview..my advice would be to be patient..and hopefully you find out something soon..i'd say if xmas rolls around and you still have not heard from them..you need to email/call/fax/snail mail whatever you need to do to contact them...

congratulations! i am waiting for my L.O.R.'s to get there (theyre waiting for 2) and then ill be praying for an interview. nova is my first choice right now.

This begins to seem like a NSU pattern I was complete beginning of OCt. I have similar stats to all of you and they keep saying the appl. is still under review. As someone else pointed out they must just have tons of applications to sort out. Just holla if you get some news everyone!
