I'm planning to send in my application to AADSAS and take the DAT at the end of this July. Do you guys think it is too late to apply for the 09 cycle?

I'm taking the DAT on July 31. What I suggest you do is turn your application in now b/c it takes about 4-6 weeks for AADSAS to process. So by the time your application is processed you will be getting ready to take the DAT. Turn your application in now or ASAP so you don't have to wait 4-6 weeks for processing after you have finished the DAT. It also depends on which schools you plan to apply to. Remember, each dental school has different deadlines! Good luck.

The end of August would not be too late to take the DAT, although I would try to apply by the end of July due to processing time.

I think the most overblown thing on this site is people acting like you have to apply in May. I have someone in my class that applied a week before the deadline and still got in. I think your DAT score and GPA have a lot more to do with getting in than whether you applied in May, June, July, or August.

You're fine. I just got this from Oregon 🙂

Dear Applicant,

This email serves to confirm that we have received your AADSAS application for the class entering in 2009.

We are still completing the admission/matriculation process for the entering class of 2008 and do not expect to begin reviewing new applications, or notifying applicants of their application status until mid-September. However, in the meantime you may be contacted by an admissions officer if when preparing your application for review, we find that your application is lacking required documentation/requirements needed for review. Once the formal review process begins, you will be notified in writing of your application status. Additionally, you have access to your application status online using AADSAS's online portal at https://portal.aadsasweb.org.

Soooo I'm guessing end of July will be no problem for many schools since from the sounds of it they are stilll finishing off their classes for next year.
