She will probably be complete mid December/January. Too late IMO for the regular DO applicant. Is she a stellar applicant? Is she traditional or non-traditional? How badly does she want to matriculate? Does she want to enter a competitive specialty?
If she doesn't want another gap year and has the stellar stats, not too late. If she has mediocre stats, might be wise to take a gap year. If she wants to enter a competitive specialty, might be wise to go for MD and take a gap year.

ORM Asian? if California uphill battle. With those stats, take a gap year, solidify ECs and go MD. I have no doubt she would garner DO interviews even if she started AACOMAS now.

Last question, my stats are 3.7 both c/sGPA and MCAT 509, AACOMAS verified but only submitted to one DO school so far, should I add more schools or take a gap year?

Are you lacking in any ECs or volunteer hours? Doing all that for AACOMAS and only submitting to one school sounds like a waste.
I have around 500 hours of volunteering clinically, only 100 hours of non-clinical and around 500 of research but no publication. No shadowing but have been scribing for more than one year part-time (around 800 hours). I took the MCAT late so I only submitted to one school to have my app verified before score release.

Since you’re already verified, shoot your shot. Sounds like you have a solid app besides submitting a little late (on that fine line for before thanksgiving). As long as you have good essays and no red flags, I would say you have a good chance at receiving multiple interviews come the New Year.
Sounds like some DO school will look at those stats and think that MD will interview and admit and some tend to only interview those that are stellar for DO but not stellar for MD so they can matriculate the applicant. There are so many applicants DO schools need to hedge their bets and interview those they feel will matriculate into the program and not accept and then later in the cycle withdraw to attend MD. It is a grueling process for applicants and schools alike.
happened to me. i applied md/do w LM 72 and did not get many DO interviews. is there any instance where an admitted md would instead attend do school?

I met a first year from CUSOM that chose CUSOM over an MD program due to scholarships and proximity to home.
I can't recommend it now. It would be only about January before her secondaries would get turned around to turn into IIs for Mar/Apr, and by that time, schools start getting picky.
