i know most deadlines for DO schools are january 1, but i also know that applications are rolling...

it's almost mid-November as i write this...is it too late to submit an application to DO schools? I know it takes about a month to get your application verified, so if i submit now, it will probably be verified before january 1, but are my chances significantly lowered b/c it's late?

should i wait until next year to apply, so i have a better chance and not have to deal with being a reapplicant if i submit a late application now and it falls through?

(btw if this helps, i have mcat 27 on the third try, gpa 3.68, volunteer (in US and overseas), research)

thank you sooo much for any advice or thoughts!

I would probably wait. Unless you are a supercompetitive applicant, applying late is a bit of a death sentence. I applied late last year with the same MCAT (on my first try though) but with a very uncompetitive GPA and got 1 interview that panned out to being on the waitlist. So unless you have the money to spend, a great explanation for being so late (they WILL ask from my experience), and all of your materials (LORs, etc) ready to mail out immediately, you will just be wasting time money and energy probably. Not to be negative...I just dont want to be unrealistic. Just take the year to beef up other parts of your application if you need to. Then again, some schools do have much later deadlines (mid March and whatnot).

And unless it has been speeding up, AACOMAS has been taking longer than 4 weeks this year. I didn't get verified until about 7 to 8 weeks. But I haven't been checking the verification thread lately so maybe it sped up?

Unless money is really tight, I would apply. Delaying your application a year will cost you at least $100k in future earnings, so you might as well try. If you get it in today, you will hopefully be processed mid-January, which is still before deadlines for a lot of schools.

My $0.02: I feel like people on this forum leave you for dead if you don't submit your application before August even though the deadlines are much later. You've got good stats for a lot of schools.

i think you got a good chance, you're definitely above average for DO schools. just submit and go with the flow.

I just got my secondaries in for several schools. I have a 3.45 and a 25 MCAT. I feel like my stats are slightly below average, so the fact that I'm late might be the end of me, for this year at least. What do you guys think?
