i've been told by a lot of my MS3 friends recently that if you didn't study hard the first 2 years of med school (MS1 included), it's just not possible to score over a 250 on step 1. i've also seen on this forum that a lot of people recommend doing well in classes as the best prep. so my question is--am i screwed?
i'm currently a ms2. i did all right first year, usually around 1 sd above the avg (give or take). i did study, but not that much... i go to a p/f school with a test once every few months, no internal rankings, and we don't really teach to boards (we also get no biochem, no embryo, no immuno, etc.). i'm trying to stay on top of things now, but we're systems based both years so i'm not sure if emphasizing just 2nd year is as effective as it might be at another school. i'm aiming for a competitive specialty so this is kind of giving me anxiety🙁 so.. is it too late now?
