Hi I'm relatively new here, my apologies if this question is a popular one.

I'm another typical former "screw up" out of high school, I found my passion and focus a little later than I would have hoped. Anyway, I just finished an AS at my local CC and am moving on to finish up my undergrad. I was not accepted to my number one choice state school but was accepted and offered scholarships/grants to my number 2 choice which is a private institution.

I have a brother who recently started working as an adviser to the president of the state university system. They looked into my paperwork with the university and they believe that there was an error with my application, which they feel caused my rejection. Now they are both encouraging me to re-apply for the following spring semester.

If I do this and move on to the state school in the spring this will be the 4th college I have attended for undergraduate studies (initial college after HS, CC after gap, the private school in the fall, then the state school in the spring). There was a significant gap between my initial studies directly out of HS and where I am now. So my question is, will this many colleges look bad when applying to med schools?

My main reason for looking into this option is financial reasons, even with the scholarships and grants at the private institution, i will still be paying double in the long run to attend the private school.

As long as you are doing well, many colleges will NOT look bad. I'd argue if you are getting As from a variety of institutes that validates your internal drive to do well (For medical schools, it's your cGPA that matters that most (followed by BPCM GPA)).

I've taken classes at a number of colleges: A community college (Canada College), a state institute (UC Berkeley) , and a number of private schools (Harvard, Brown, Stanford, Northeastern). I don't think the sheer number of institutes really matters. Just do well in your classes.

The downside of the number of schools is you'll need to request transcripts from all of them when you apply and this may slow down how long it takes your application to be complete (so plan ahead). To counter this, I'll be ordering official transcripts to be sent to me early in the spring (this will help me enter classes into the application) and give me a sense of how long schools take to send them out.

A financial reason is a good reason to me to transfer. You will accumulate enough debt in medical school.

Yes, there is a saying that gold is shining, you either choose that, as long as you have that ability, as you will be great!
