Too many Step 1 Resources

I have too many resources for Step 1. It is all getting overwhelming! Any advice on what to use and what to ditch.

I'd keep all 3 Qbanks, especially UWorld. Try and do Kaplan and/or Rx too if you have time.

Actually, just go to the extreme and stop using everything except what the post above mentions and Uworld. So you will be sticking with FA, Goljan audio and book, and UWorld. See how that works, and then add other qbanks or BRS Physio (I'd keep this though) if you feel like you can benefit.

If it were me, I would keep UWorld, Rx, possibly Qbank, and Goljan audio from that last. I'd add FA and RR path, and would ditch the rest.

Would rather know a few big-league resources pretty well than just look over a whole bunch of them, and more questions is always better.

Just my two cents.

Are you a person that likes to do lots of questions? That kind of dictates what to hold on to as well.

I'm almost through Uworld and will probably be through it twice by the time the test rolls around, along with 2000+ questions from other sources...

Why in the world is Goljan Audio so essential? I guess it isnt hard to listen to his lectures but I feel he spends 20 minutes being serious and 30 minutes telling jokes. Should I just suffer through it?

I agree. Half the time i feel like i lose track of my notes or listening to him becuase of his jokes, it comes from nowhere. material is hard enough lol

i feel like my time is better spent going through the book with a fine tooth comb.

on the other hand he does explain things in the audio that even if i know it...just sticks better cuz i heard it from him....just in the way he says it. so might be helpful when you are having your down time....but I definitely dont think its "essential"

maybe someone else can shed some light on why they thought it was and how so. i would like to know myself.

I like using his audio because I get a pretty good idea of the "big picture" when I listen to him. He chooses to discuss things that are conceptually difficult to understand (although not so much once he explains them which is what makes him a great teacher) or he deems that are quite important not only for the boards but for the wards too.

After going through audio, I go through the RR book and find myself linking lot of the diseases back to the concepts he chose to focus on in his audio. It also helps me figure out when an important mechanism is being explained in the bullets format versus when he is just listing facts upon facts in the bullets.

if you don't want to listen to his audio, you can just get his audio transcipt, which is like his audio in written format

This, plus for me it turns down time into high yield time. I have a commute to and from school, so I can get one lecture a day and instead of cursing the f!(!ing always late bus I take, I learn stuff.

I'm a huge fan of goljan audio and book, but I definitely don't think it is really essential. I think that first aid and qbanks are essential. 2nd tier resources are goljan + BRS physio.

I am a question person, however, I can't do questions cold without any content review or I get really frustrated. One thought was to go through the kaplan videos, annotate FA and do USMLE Rx. Then do Uworld and Kaplan Qbanks while rereading my annotated FA. What are your thoughts. I have 7 weeks of school and 10 weeks to study once school is out.

I don't know much about Pathoma, thought, is it good?
