So I have really great friends, relatives and coworkers and they keep buying me the same present for the start of med school...

I tried to get word out that I had one but now I can't say anything because I don't want people to feel like I didn't want their gift.

I now have 3 stethoscopes, 1 of which is engraved - all Littman cardiology III's. I was really touched and honored all three timesbut what should I do with the other two?

Are you guys having this problem? I assume I won't be able to give them away since most of my fellow med students will also recieve these as gifts.

That's really nice that friends are giving you stethoscopes. :luck:

Some suggestions.

A) Hold on to them. Stethoscopes (even engraved ones) can gain legs.

B) Leave them in strategic place, like one at home one at med school/hospital locker. That way you're never pissed off you left one some where.

Yeah basically I was thinking "well, now I'll never forget it since I have three".

I'll prolly keep one at home, one in the car, and one in the clinic, OR or whatever.

Yeah, my friends got me one - engraved. They rule 👍

Keep two -- you may lose or break one. Sell the others on ebay. You don't want to keep one in the "clinic, OR" or you will never see it again. Hospitals are populated by kleptomaniacs. Why do you think pharmaceutical companies give out pens, stethoscopes, reflex hammers and the like? -- because people always have theirs wandered off with.

If your school gives you a locker onsite you could lock one up there. I don't think ALL your classmates will have one on day one (I won't unless someone surprises me, I don't think anyone would purchase one as a gift without asking what I wanted), so maybe you could unload one that way.

Why are friends/relatives not buying me gifts? I just don't understand...

Scopes have a way of developing legs and "walking" out of your coat pocket. You may find that you go through all three of these. I would (save the engraved scope for last) use one unengraved now and put the other two away.

Be sure to take them out from time to time and treat them with Armor All to keep the tubing soft and pliable. Otherwise, store them in a safe place.

Wow nice gifts!!!

What the hell? I want this problem. My buddy (who is a pharmacist) is giving me his but other than that I haven't gotten anything.

I second the eBay motion.
