Too many Ws????

I currently have a 3.7 now at a 4 year.... junior year.

I spent one year at CC..

During the the one year at the CC i had a 4.0 GPA with 5 Ws.

Will this be acceptable for Dental Schools as long as I keep my GPA up?

I had a recent interview where I had to explain some W's, but I was at a 4yr state college, not sure if they look at cc credits differently, good luck

To be honest my first semester I wasn't really motivated about going back to school after being out for 4 years, I just knew I needed to and I was working full time hours. Ended up Withdrawing from 3 classes (falling behind). 2nd semester I tried to take take 6 classes and 2 classes had labs and I ended up having to ask to drop my work hours to 30/hrs week. It was still a lot. Withdrew from 2 classes out of that 6, so I could keep up.

Working 20hrs/week and taking 4-5 classes a semester happens to work for me a lot better. I just don't know if that would be acceptable..

Would a good post-bac help me more? (of course I would only do this if I don't get any acceptances)

I'm aiming for some of the lower DSchools.. don't really want to push and lose out on a lot of money by aiming high with 5Ws.

Is it hard to specialize if I ended up top 15% of my class if I go to schools like Meharry or Howard DS?

You can only hope that the ds will be aiming in the same direction.

My track record looks very rocky for the first 3 years and the last 2 have a strong upward trend in GPA without any W's. I only have 1 interview so far but plan to get a few more soon. Good luck

I guess it all depends on how long ago that was and the circumstances regarding the W's. I have 6 W's and attended 4 undergraduate colleges before graduating. My track record looks very rocky for the first 3 years and the last 2 have a strong upward trend in GPA without any W's. I only have 1 interview so far but plan to get a few more soon. Good luck

Well all the Ws were from freshman year. (well my first year back in school). Had to do a lot of summer classes to catch back up lol.

you'll be fine... if everytime a freshman / sophomore / junior / senior / etc made an educational mistake and resulted in automatic rejections.... no one would ever be accepted to dental school.

You have good GPA (and assuming you'll have a decent DAT).... you are an ideal pre-dent
