I'm in a situation where I'm waiting to get into Western (Waitlist), but I don't know what to do until then. I've been thinking of graduate school but I'm not sure it's a viable option, will it help me get in? Would it be a better idea if I just got a job over the year and then re-apply next year?

Thanks!😍

Why are you going to wait until next year to re-apply? Shouldn't you re-apply for this current cycle? Also, if your stats were good enough to get on a waitlist, you probably don't need to go to graduate school...just take some upper level science classes and do well in them. You can take classes and work at the same time...although i'm not sure how well that would work.

Are you intent on staying in Canada? If your stats are good enough to get waitlisted at Western I'm sure you could get in somewhere in the states. There is also going to be lots of movement on the waitlist from what I have heard... check out pm101 forumns they tend to track the movement there a little bit. I guess tell us your stats then we would have a better idea though.

Like Molar said, you should reapply THIS year, not next year, as that would put you 2 yrs behind schedule. A high GPA in grad school will help more than some meaningless job. There are lots of variables to consider here, including your current stats, and what kind of job you're thinking of doing.

Wouldn't hurt to contact the dean of admissions at Midwestern and see what they would recommend you do if you don't get in this cycle.
