So I'm a current freshman and I took a state-accredited EMT course at a local community college on weekends (while simultaneously at my actual college; I live an hour away from school but live on campus). I would like to be state certified, and am going for my practicals in 2 weeks.
The course is 2 halves, 4 credits each. (titled Emergency Care I which ran from September to October and Emergency Care II which ran October to December.) I have a few questions for you guys, if you don't mind.
Would this be considered as use of the quarter system? I'm trying to calculate my AMCAS GPA thus far using the Excel calculator.
Second, how exactly would this factor into my GPA in the eyes of adcoms? I got A's in both halves of the course, and when entered into the calculator along with my actual college courses, I supposedly have a 3.3 cGPA (I received a 3.0 this semester with 14 credits which I posted about previously and will try my absolute hardest to bring up).
Would they be less forgiving of the 3.0 seeing as I was taking my EMT course at the same time as my actual courses at college? And would they be weighted equally as regular courses even though they were at a CC? How would I report the courses to AMCAS come time to apply?
Thanks guys! And good luck to everyone, especially with the sh*tty recent news about AACOMAS doing away with grade replacement--that's absolutely disgusting. I feel for those who spent both a significant amount of time and money to improve their stats
