Very bad

USMLE 1: 225
USMLE 2: 239

Very average

I'm applying for psychiatry. I did not apply to any AOA programs and am not partaking in the NMS match. I have had 10 interviews for my specialty of choice, 11 invites, 1 of which I did not go.

Will my poor COMLEX scores substantially hold me back from psychiatry? I'm extremely scared this will happen if I'm being honest. Thank you

I say this with absolutely no shred of knowledge or authority on the matter, but I suspect no one cares about your COMLEX scores in this case.

I personally would have gone on the 11th interview, but no, your COMLEX scores won't adversely affect the way programs rank you. You passed by a decent margin, and all the ACGME programs are going to be looking at your USMLE scores anyway.

Agree with Hallowman, should have gone to all your interviews, no matter what. I think you'll be okay though. You did slightly below average on both, but at least you're consistent and took the dive and took both Steps which will work in your favor. Come back and give us an update after the match.

You’re going to rock it. Come back and share w/ us the good news in a few months.

1) you did good on both COMLEX exams

2) you took both steps and did well on them

3) you improved on your step2 from step1

4) you already gotten interviews so you must have passed the screening part of the application process

5) I disagree. You don’t need to spent unnecessary money time and energy interviewing at a place you are not interested in, given that you had 10 interviews already. Likelihood of dipping that low into your match list is nearly nonexistent

Your scores on COMLEX aren't that bad, and your USMLE is fine. I bet you'll be okay.

I think it's completely unnecessary but if you're REALLY panicked about it, you could register for the NMS Match but not rank anything. Then if for some crazy reason NRMP Match/SOAP don't work out you could scramble into an open TRI or something to try again the next year. I believe there were still spots available by the time ACGME Match came and went last year, but can't find the data so if I'm wrong someone please correct me.

Again, I think that won't happen, and it's completely unnecessary, and would just be an $80+ (don't know the late fee) donation to the AOA/NMS, but if you're really panicking about things and spending the $80 would make you feel a little better, it's an option.

Also, I'm with @Ibn Alnafis MD. If you're "extremely scared" now you probably should have gone to the last interview for peace of mind, but I doubt the difference between ranking 10 vs 11 programs will really change anything for you, plus if it was a program you didn't want to rank in your heart of hearts anyway, you likely made the right call.

Better chance to match than not match overall. Any red flags on your app? Passed PE as well? I applied with only comlex although both my scores were in the 600s and received the same number of interviews as you.

Barring any random red flags you should be good. I say this based on 2016's stats where those who matched ranked roughly 8-9 programs while those who didn't ranked roughly 6. There's obviously no guarantees, but getting 11 interviews seems like a good sign so far!

Also, from all the info I've gathered, your stats are most important for getting interviews, but your rankings are based heavily on your interactions with the ppl there during your interview, with your scores possibly moving you up or down on the rank list a bit.

Your scores were certainly good enough to get the interviews. Looking at the 2017 NRMP data, The mean COMLEX in Psych that matched was 526. Out of 155 DO matches in Psych, 62 had a COMLEX less than a 501. So I would say it is all up to how your interviews went.
Good luck
