Took DAT today, thoughts?

Hello everyone,

I finally took my DAT today! I was wondering are my scores okay to apply and would I have to take the DAT again? Thank you so much! And thank you so much for everyone's advice, thoughts, and support throughout this testing experience.

Reading Comprehension: 19
Biology: 17
General Chemistry: 19
Organic Chemistry: 20
Total Science: 18

I think you'll be fine as long as you apply broadly. If you want to go to a particular school (UCLA, Penn, etc.), however, I would consider retaking.

Yeah given your scores I would have to agree with 8_man you should get in somewhere but if you want a specific school retaking may give you a better chance at that. You can always call schools and ask if your score seem competitive enough to get an interview.

With your GPA and scores you'll get in to a dental school. I think people on this forum have sort of a skewed perception of decent scores. A 19 is the average acceptance score! And you have a 4.0!! You're good to go.

Congratulations! Nice scores and consistent, but nothing really standouts. You have an stellar GPA which will be looked at favorably by the dental schools. Have you been out of school a while? Most students with a 4.0 GPA score higher on the DAT. In hindsight, how could you have scored higher? Did you get nervous on the test?

Again your scores and not bad, just not great!

Just my 2 cents and honest opinion with many years of experience.

Thank you! No I am still in school, I just feel I got an extremely hard science section. I was getting consistently 22s/24s on Gen chem and really high o chem scores like 26/30 on all my practice tests. I feel everything I studied for the sciences really was not on the test. And I used DAT bootcamp, DAT genius, Destroyer/Math Destroyer, and qvault. The bio was just really random questions, which I was hoping after going through bio destroyer 3 times that I would see something similar. And my o chem section was completely random nothing I really studied either. The only thing that was exactly like I studied was math, and that was almost identical to math destroyer and bootcamp exams.

Were you using a current version of the Destroyer? Do you think perhaps you spent too much time on timed test and felt overly confident because of the high scores you received? Hope you don't mind all the questions.
