I am finally recovered from the stress of the morning , so hear are some info about the test that might be helpful;
BIOLOGY: I thought the section covered pretty much everything that was on ADA outlines: from cell structures to ecology. make sure you know how different cell organelles look under the microscope (SEM), know all the glands and what hormones they produce ot what organs they 'activate'. they were some random questions that I think were not covered in Campbell. A lot of long questions about the genetics, that needed simple calcs. I think I had only one questions about biomes. I was so stresses out that honestly as soon as I left the test center, I pretty much couldn't remember much.
CHEM: they were a lot of simple calcualtions, a couple of theory questions about solubility, atomic radius. Know how to calculate logs w/o a calculator. Personally, i couldn't think how I could get the H+ conc from pH. so stupid! Know the definitions of Arrh, Bron-Lowry and lewis acid/basis. I would say that the Kaplan blue book with the review notes was very helpful and covered EVERYTHING that was on the test. I think most mistakes I made were in calcualtions, but I still got 22.
ORGO: know the reactions of alcohols, ketones, and aldehydes along with the aromatics. i did not have any ?? about N compounds but it doesn't mean that you don't have to know that. Know what affects acidity and basicity. There was only 1 ? about IR spectrum and it was an easy one with broad OH peak. I got 23 on the orgo section.
PAT: was my worst section I got 15😡My biggest problem was time. please watch it. the computer will give you a 15 and a 5 minute warning so make sure you look at the clock on top right before the 15 min warning. The angles were hard, they were pretty much all so close, probably 3-4 degree difference or less. I can't say anything about pattern folding since I had just click through the whole section without looking at the questions because I ran out of time.
RC: I had relatively straight forward passages. Most questions were in the order they were covered in the text. I got 21 but I thought I did better than 21 when I was answering the questions. There were multiple ?? that had two statements and you had to chose where both statements are right or only one is correct or both wrong and such. The RC covered similar topics that were in Kaplan blue book. My strategy was to read the whole passage first and then answer the questions. I am a pretty slow reader ( i am not a native speaker🙂) and I did have plenty of time and I answered all of the questions. I think the questions I might have guesses wrong were the ?? that asked "what sentence would be a logical end to the 2nd paragraph" or minor details that you had to deduce from the generalization.
QUANT: Again my problem was time. the questions that I had time to answer were straight forward. Make sure you know standard dev and probabilities along with arcsin/arccos/ cot. I was very 'rusty' on trig and it took me a long time to answer the trig problems. The only formulas other than stats that I needed were the area of triangle and circle. You have to be quick and do a lot of calc w/o calculator (I am very good in math but not good in manual calcs and that was my problem). Overall, my scores are 17BIO/22 Chem/23ORGO/15PAT/21RC/16QUANT
MY TS was 20 and my AA was 20. My science GPA is 3.89-3.9. MY masters from overseas that was evaluated by US Dept of Educ was accepted as MA with honors (I had 4.0 GPA, non-science).What do you think I should do? Do I have a chance of getting in anywhere?
