I just took my DAT today and am very disappointed in my PAT score.

Here are my scores

Academic Average 20
PAT 15
QR 18
RC 21
Bio 22
G-Chem 19
O-Chem 19

I graduated from UCSB in 2003 with a B.S. in Microbiology. My cumulative GPA is a 3.25. I've done a little research during my freshman and sophomore summers and volunteered in the Adventures in Caring program for the first two years. My only extracurricular activities are martial arts, which I've been doing since my sophomore year in college.

I applied to UOP, UCLA, UCSF, USC, Loma Linda, Tufts, Nova, and Arizona (CA Resident). My top three choices are USC, Arizona, and Nova and my AADSAS # is 1831.

Both my parents and my brother are dentists and I've been working in my parents office on and off since high school (I've done a lot of medical billing).
I was wondering if my chances at USC, Nova, and Arizona are still good with that low of a PAT score. I don't really want to go to UOP or UCSF...my brother graduate from UOP and I didn't really like the campus or the area.

If I take the DAT again in a few months I'm afraid my other scores will go down and my PAT will only go up a little.

I'm going to the USC admissions office tomorrow to see what they think, but I wanted to know what everyone on here thought.

hey man, i wouldnt worry about it too much, all ur other scores look great. and if u wanna go to nova, i wouldnt worry about it all. cuz i'm actually in pretty much the same boat as u, scored a 21/15 with a 3.6 gpa. i called nova and they told me that they hardly even look at the PAT score. they actually did a study and found out that the ppl who are at the top of their class normally scored the lowest PAT score, so go figure. and even with my low PAT, i've already gotten 3 interview invites, so i dont think u'll have a prob. good luck

Mark, just wondering if you ever used Topscore. If you did, would you mind sharing your scores? Thanks.

You're GPA is a lot higher than mine though. Where did you get your interviews at?

Nope....never used TopScore. I only used the Kaplan subject tests and I took one full length Kaplan. I'm thinking of getting acethedat and TopScore if I plan on taking it again because I'm out of tests.

what does that aadsas number represent? is it a ranking or is it just a random ID number that you have assigned to you?

ah ok thanks

so how many people apply per year? 1100's are very good position then i imagine.

Well I stopped by the admissions office at USC today to talk about my PAT scores. They said that all my other scores, GPA, applying relatively early in the cycle, and other stuff still makes me a competitive candidate for the dental school. They said that 15 is the cutoff for their scores and if I got a 14, they'd ask me to re-take it. They said it's up to me if I want to re-take it, but if I do and my scores go down, they will only look at the second (or most recent) set of scores.

They did suggest that I start volunteering at their mobile clinics, so I'm going to be doing that as much as I can.

I think I'm going to withdraw my applications from UOP, UCSF, UCLA, and Loma Linda.
