Hello,

I took the DAT June 4, and have been back and forth about my impressions of my scores. I have a low GPA, 3.27 Overall, 3.0 Science, so I was shooting for some high scores. My GPA was a 3.0 freshman year and went up every year after that, starting with a 3.3 sophomore year. I am realistic in that I don't expect to get into the best schools but I was hoping for some opinions. I also have spent the last year as doing research at UPenn and am not sure how much schools will factor this in.

PAT 21
QR 19
RC 20
Bio 16
GC 22
OC 18
TS 18
AA 19

I am really upset by a couple of the scores, I was getting 18-21 on my Kaplan and Topscore Bio tests and 2 nights before the DAT I got a 23 on the topscore QR. I am afraid that if I take it again my GC score will come down drastically. Thoughts on my chances? Thank you.

That Bio score is going to raise a red flag, especially with your science GPA. With that GPA, I think you should retake....aim for 21 AA. Even if your GC drops a little, a raise in your Bio score should even out, which I think adcoms would like a lot more. Just my 2 cents.

I agree here.

Great scores though, don't get me wrong.

If I were in your shoes, I'd make sure my app was in, then began studying to take it in 3 months (or 2 months from now).

The other option is to wait a little into the cycle and see whether you get any attention (interview invites) and if not, then consider taking it again, as you more than likely have nothing to lose.

To me the research at UPenn would seem like a big deal. 👍 I'm definitely no adcom or an expert, but when I left the Research section blank on my app, it definitely felt like a big omission. If anything, it usually requires a tremendous time commitment outside of class.

Good luck with everything. I'll bet that you could easily keep your GC above 20 if you retake and definitely get that Bio up there. All the info is so fresh in your mind still!

Nice scores, the BIO seems like an outlier.....You are in a tough situation..Had it been a 17, i'd say WHO CARES...your other scores are great though

Call a few schools and see what they say.

Unfortunatly I would say don't apply this year. If you GPA was a 3.5 then I would say go for it...
