What do your schools recommend putting your collected teeth in? UConn told us to put it in diluted bleach, but one of the docs I went to said I should put them in a mineral water (mineral oil?) solution after disinfecting them in the bleach to prevent them from drying out. Anybody have any ideas about that course of action?

P.S. This is my first time posting a topic, so be nice!

I currently store all my collected teeth in 1 part Chlorine (bleach) and 9 parts water. After 4-6 weeks in the diluted chlorine solution, you can switch the stored solution to 1 part water and 1 part mouthwash (50%/50%). Never heard of mineral oil solution for storage? Also, I'm assuming mineral water or regular tap water are fine, doesn't matter which really! This is what I am doing with my teeth and is what Nova is telling us what to do.

UCLA wants students to store it in "Formalin" solution... I think you have to buy it at some chemical company...

i am collecting teeth per the UCLA instructions as well...10% buffered formalin, which you can order thru Amico Scientific Corp. (714) 894-6633...it's about $6.95 for 500mL...the formalin will sterilize the teeth...so they will not need to be autoclaved...good luck...happy collecting..
