I did not do good at all. Less than 20 higher than 14

I used bootcamp, several bio books, and CRACK DAT Software.

I did not think bootcamp's set up is at all similar to the DAT.

CRACK DAT Software is much more representative of the question types and overall experience as in the test format. I should of stuck with this software more!

I am really upset with my scores. I studied since the beginning of June, every Monday Tuesday and Wednesday were my days devoted to straight studying. All other days I was working and at night would do some PAT.

The week before the exam, mid August, I took a week off work to study straight through.

.........

The exam overall was very difficult. Math was unbelievable! I had trig questions related to arc-tangents.

Any questions or tips please post.

........

I did apply this cycle and plan to retake DAT in December or late November.

DAT BOOTCAMP really did not help at all.

......

And I was on a two week ban due to immature individuals on this site who take everything to heart.

Bootcamp isn't supposed to be used as your main study tool it's not that good.

Use Destroyer/KBB/Cliff's/Chad's to learn the info then Bootcamp to test it.

Also, to the guy in here that said Bootcamp had a lot of the problems the DAT had, you got lucky as hell. I only saw one problem that was similar, all the others were completely different.

I didn't say that I had a lot of problems from bootcamp on my test. I only mentioned a meniscus problem. I said that of the practice tests, bc was most similar. I also think it's unfair for you to call my success luck when it appears I had the same version of the test that the op & others were saying was too difficult and different from bc.

Yeah I'm sorry, I misread that. You're completely right. I didn't mean to imply that all your success was based on luck, but if a ton of questions you saw on your exam had been on Bootcamp as well, then it would have been a fair bit of luck! That being said, as I said earlier, I completely misread what you said 😛 Sorry, and good job on your scores!

Thank you guys, I have read all the posts...

I will start studying again this coming Monday, once school starts... To get my schedules in order...

I plan on studying 100% for DAT on Monday Wednesday and Thursday.

And other days, focus on college work(11cr. 3 classes 1 lab) and my work at work.....

And I plan on RE-taking DAT in November...

What do y'all think about that?

Awesome

Thank you,

Good encouragement.

My tip is try to stay off SDN or at least limit yourself. You don't need to be overly critical of yourself, but you should consider not only your time spent studying, but the time you spent not studying. I think around june you had about 500 posts on here. Now you have about 2.5x that. My point is that there is a time and place for everything. Really consider using SDN to benefit yourself before others; once you've taken the DAT, you have a lot more insight to spread. Consider taking a constructive approach and read glimmers breakdown collection and get a feel for the attitudes' successful test takers had. Find test takers who did not do as well as they wanted the first go around, and then, did excellent second time. Don't let your first attempt dictate your second attempt. Don't let something in the past hold you down or tell you you can't get something done. Find questions people currently have about material; can you answer it? Find the answer for them, and you generally end up learning more than they did for asking the question in the first place. Good luck

We all hear stories of people saying that they studied 12 hours a day for 2 months straight. Are they really truly studying for 12 hours a day? Probably not. I am not saying that everyone who claims this is lying, but a large proportion of those who claim this are not actually putting in 12 hours a day like they say they are. People take breaks, I know I do. Some people take more breaks than others and longer breaks than others. They stop to eat. You get the point.

I had a friend of mine who had a stop watch and timed exactly how much they studied per day. When they would stop to take a break, eat, or even take a power nap, they would stop the timer and resume it only when they were ready to resume studying. I personally did not do this, but this may be a good way to help gauge how much you are actually studying.

for you to have gone through that much of study material, I am sure the time you spent in preparation was pretty significant. Only conclusion I can gather from that is you might not have had quality hours of studying.

I am not saying this to bash you, but studying for a long time + going through 10 books doesn't really mean a lot if you do not go over the problems you got wrong and even the ones you got right in DEPTH.
Like other people said, take a small break and get yourself together and reevaluate what you've been missing.

What I found really helpful was keep track of what problems you get wrong and do those problems over after a few weeks. Make sure you familiarize yourself with why.

Good luck to you!

I would suggest you change your study plan. You had a similar plan for the first time you took the DAT, and it did not work. Also, i would go through the ultimate DAT breakdown and use all of those resources.

I'm not pointing fingers, but I do believe that the DAT scoring system has its flaws.

Hey, maybe, and possibly I did do that bad..... But still believe that the test I took was exceptionally difficult.

Who has had arc-tangent questions on the QR?

I'm waiting until I get my grade posted... I have 30days from when I took the exam to ask for an audit...
Hey, I see your frustration. You are definitely not accusing here. You are wondering what you did wrong. Before you retake it next time, try a different approach. Learn the material first before taking practice tests. Use Feralis (free), Destroyer, (Math and Gen chem Destroyer if you need to),Cliffs (free), Odyssey, Schaum's outlines, Organic chemistry and a Second language. Those resources will teach you the material. Then, you can go back to practice tests. If you look at breakdowns in this forum, many people have tried it and it helped them get a good score. Bad news is, it will take some time and effort. However, if you do put in time and hard work, you will be happy with your results.

Sucks right!

I am thinking about getting an audit and complain that the test was exceptionally difficult and to reevaluate my score.

(Seems immature or not right, but since the percentile scoring has been removed, I feel like if percentile was available it would balance out the low dat score)

Opinions?

As others have said, you should listen to that, and you should reevaluate your confidence level.

I do recall you posting around this very time, that you had 15 years of clinical experience and you know the ins and outs and demands of dentistry more than actual dentist.

This is not to get under your skin but to give you a perspective, to reflect from, you were confident then as if you know it all, and you were confident about getting 17 and 18 on DAT BOOTCAMP,

From my thorough review of BREAKDOWNS, I Will say, nobody scored over 4 points above or below BOOTCAMP, so to hope to get lucky on the DAT will give you what Vegas will, a big lose of cash. Be more humble, you won't get banned as much, and you will expose yourself to learn more, because to learn takes humility, and no offense intended (this is constructive) you showed a lack of humility at the time of this original post. Change that, and change your approach. You'll do fine.

I also think the first step should be very good written materials, and then tests. Otherwise you could see the same results and waste another 400$ for the test.
Depends on where you live, you could find some good tutoring courses. But again, choose carefully and don't waste your time on somebody who doesn't care about study process. There are a lot tutoring like this (Unfortunately).

The funny thing is this person actually had one of the easiest versions of the DAT out there and they're complaining about it being exceptionally difficult. Wow.

The dude wanted to audit and argue to try to get a higher score, lol. I wonder if he retook it, there's no Tooth Knockn DAT #2 experience.

That could have been the most amazing audit of all time. Imagine working for the ADEA and getting that request.

Reason for audit: Student complained that "the test was exceptionally difficult and to reevaluate [his] score"
