hi can anyone explain the tooth relation in lateral excursive movemants to solve these kind of questions..please help.

through which of the following grooves of mand 1st molar does the max mesiolingual cusp pass in lateral excursive movements on working side...
1.facial
2.lingual
3.central
4.distofacial

and also please explain tooth relation in proteusive ,unilateral occlusion, crossbite.please help..........
thanks

The answer is facial .
Please correct if am wrong.

answer is lingual its from 1998 asda 105 question.please explain me tooth relation inthese movements...
which of the following plays a great role in disoocluding the posterior teeth in leteroprotrusive movements?
1.ant guidence
2.post guidence
3.benett side shift
4.intercondylar distance.

when mandible moves to rt sid which of the following represents the excursive tooth contacts which could occur on right molars??

1.non working side contacts
2.working.....
3.lateral contacts
4.occlusion.

the answer is ----lingual...
explanation-----only the mandible can move ..but maxillary is fixed...so actly msiolingual cusp of maxillary 1st molar lies in central fossa of mand 1st molar.
lets take its right working movement...mand moves to the right..so mand 1st molar also moves to the right..but mesiolingual cusp of max 1st molar is fixed.so as mand moves to the right the mesio lingual cusp of max first molar which earlier was in central fossa of mand 1st molar passes thru lingual groove of mand 1st molar as mand 1st molar moves to the right..

i hope it helps
goodluck

not very sure .

Thanks indeed for this well worthy explanation !
where r u studying occlusion and the TMJ movements from ?

on non working side in an ideal occclision interfering contacts on posterior teeth will be located on which inclines of which cusps??

inclines cusps
1.outer guiding
2.inner guiding
3,outer suppoting
4.inner supporting

inclines cusps
1.outer guiding
2.inner guiding
3,outer suppoting
4.inner supporting--------ANS

explanation----in non working movement the mand moves medialy...the supporting cusp of max which is lingual cusp is in occlusion with supporting cusp of mand which is a buccal cusp...when mand tries to move medially the inner inclines of buccal cusps of mand teeth interfer with inner inclines of lingual cusps of max teeth..hence inner inclines of suuporting cusps is the answer..

just read it from kaplan review..and try to imagine when u r reading....practise lots of such questions ....once u start solving questions u ll have a clear understanding of the mand movements..
