Top board prep resources in 2019?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I bought the lectures and materials from the AAFP website because I had left over book money last year and thought why not? It’s essentially a copy of the in-person board review. I didn’t listen to all of the lectures, but used it to brush up on topics I wasn’t as confident in.

Otherwise, I felt like doing the old in-training exams and using the ABFM app with questions prepared me sufficiently. That’s what everyone in my residency recommended.

I know this is a repeat topic but this stuff can fluctuate over time. Are there 2-3 resources that are absolutes for board/ITE prep?

I used Uworld and the ABFM app. Uworld had better explanations and ABFM had a more similar question style to the exam. Both worth it.

The lecture series from AAFP is really hit or miss, a few lectures were just OK and a bunch were really awful, so personally I didn't stick with those. I tried out the free AAFP questions as well and they weren't great.

I also dabbled in Garber and Wilson's FM review. Entertaining, but its hard to do the MCQs with the answer right on the page and the question style was not like the exam so I don't think that one is worth it.

We basically pooled old in training exams and studies those.

Our class reviewed several sources and most of us like Board Vitals the best.

Sorry if this has been asked elsewhere -- how much time does one usually get to take the ITE, like 2 or 4 hrs? Doing my recertification in a year, wanted to use the ITE's as part of my prep. Can't recall back in residency how much time we got for these.
Thanks

did the following and scored very high on real deal
-Uworld: spot on stuff on the real deal/ wouldn't have got it correct without it
-ABFM free qbank: again stuff verbatim
-ITEs: do 3-5 and you will see repeats
-my program gave us the notes for the aafp; honestly didnt find them useful. literally words on a slide without it being practical
-for my weak areas just read U2D or a review txt book like FA

@Ascultator : you get 2.5hrs if i recall

1 minute per question. 240 questions, 240 minutes. They're trimming it down to 200 questions this year.

Hi there,

Just wondering if anyone used the PassMachine Qbank/lectures for ABFM preparation? and if it is effective...compares to UWORLD.

I am planning on doing the ITEs, but not sure which additional Qbank to purchase

thank you!
