Barron's DAT prep book has the best tips for PAT questions- that helped me a lot. One good strategy is to count "events" (horizontal or vertical lines, holes, etc. in the other views) and compare the number and placement of the events to the answer choices. That can help you rule out choices that do not have the necessary markings. It is a little bit hard to explain without a visual, so definitely take a look at the barrons book. It is hard to get used to at first, but with a lot of practice problems it becomes easier...

You need to go beyond event countings at times when not all wrong answers can be eliminated that way. BY interpreting the solid and hidden lines given and determining where certain structure (depression, protrusion, ...) locate, it will confidently land you on the right answer.

Great 2D and 3D illustrations come along with DAT Achiever. You should consider using it. It's an awesome guide to further help visualize angles/edges/... alot more completely.
