But the other schools are great too. There isn't one top school. They all have different strengths, depends on what you are looking for.

on a side note...you know its an un-biased poll when a school that hasn't even had a class yet gets a few votes for the best DO school....I'm pretty sure these polls would have similar results if the name was changed to "what school accepted you"

Ok where did that come from? Why the personal attack for no reason? Despite the fact that I didn't even apply to PCOM, I think the school is highly overated here on SDN. Seems like a lot of PCOMers have a superiority complex. It is a good school, but not leaps and bounds beyond the other strong DO schools. Just my opinion. I was more impressed with DMU and KCUMB when I was researching which schools to apply to.

haha...i wouldn't be surprised:laugh:, although I respect everything he says, he spends quite a number of hours on SDN daily and over 80% promoting PCOM...lol:laugh:

With my stellar stats of 3.25 BCPM and 22 MCAT...my top choice is the school that takes me!

Good luck buddy with that one...that gpa and mcat is not helping. If you dont get in this time around, try retaking the mcats and/or do a past-bach
 
So did anyone actually vote for a school that they were NOT attending? 😀 This is basically a poll of "what school will/are you attending" combined with "What school do you hope to get into"

I'd vote Touro a bit higher if they moved it off Mare Island. That place is a dump. But its the program closest to San Francisco (for me, a good thing), so thats something.
 
I thought that NSU would be big, but i would love to go here since I only live two min. away.

Ready for school? How are things in Harrogate?

My fiance left me for another dude 🙁 but I'm already meeting people from PCOM and am excited about moving to my new apt so at least there is a little bit of distraction from that lousy reality.

One lousy thing about going to PCOM... paying 800 dollars a month for something that isn't becoming any more yours... I hate renting. But all of the classmates that I have met seem really interesting.

Met any classmates from DCOM yet? When do classes begin?

How is your family taking to the area?

So sorry about your fiance. *hug* But, I guess it wasn't meant to be. You will find the right person someday. Don't worry. Plus, you will be so busy with school that you won't even notice.

Tennessee is beautiful. The family loves it! I haven't met anyone from school yet, but I have talked to a few people on the phone. We start August 1st. THAT IS IN TWO WEEKS!!!! 😱:scared:😛 Our mortgage isn't that much more than what you are paying for an apartment, so that definitely sucks for you.

I am still around SDN, but usually only on the DCOM class thread. I have dial-up now, so it is annoying to have to wait for the pages to load on SDN. LOL! It seems like almost everyone has moved on from pre-osteo to their school threads or just off of SDN, but I will be around forever I think.

My gosh, Maximus, I'm so sorry! That's terrible. My girlfriend broke up with me when I started studying for the MCAT / re-applying. Not quite the same, I know. I'm sorry to hear that.
Although (and this logic may be cyclical) but if she's someone who would even see another guy while she's engaged, then she's probably not worth it, anyway, and better that you know now than after you get married.
Although I'm sure that's of little solace to you.
I'm glad to know that you're getting a fresh start and that school is around the corner and I hope it treats you well!

Not too uncommon, unfortunately. My first wife left me when I got accepted to medical school. She didn't want to have to get a job while I was in school.

Pretty ridiculous, huh?

If I could pick two schools, NSU would be the second. I chose PCOM because of the strong residency program and the amount of friends I have in philly. I can actually live with a non-medical student.

NSU is my second because of the beautiful facilities, my connections in the area (my dad's old partner runs a residency program down there), and family...and weather.


Crap...didn't realize it old.
 
I voted for MSUCOM.

But If I get into CCOM or PCOM, that will definitely make my decision more interesting.
 
If you're a TX resident, you can pay tuition at TCOM with the change you find in your couch cushions. And the education quality is very good. Easy decision.
 
Lots of poor people in Philly = lots of opportunity to learn to be a doctor. Very diverse patient population in rotations.

Also, the school is well-established, good facilities, good faculty, and good residency placement.

I'd go there in a second.
 
LOL stark contrast of votes between PCOM - PA and PCOM - GA.
 
I voted for UNECOM...interviewing there on the 25th, and while I can't wait to get out to Maine, I am ooooh so nervous already!
 
I voted for UNECOM. Its the only schools I applied to that's in a state that I've never visited. The allure of the unknown.... Actually, I'm not really sure why I am most excited about that interview, but I am. I like everything about UNECOM so far. Actually seeing schools and interviewing may well change my answer to this question...
 
PCOM would be number 1 for me, but a close second would be NYCOM since I could save a boatload of cash by living at home and commuting (30 minute drive).
 
A lot of love for Western. I was also shocked that there weren't more votes for NSU. Also, I didn't vote ... too scared of jinxing it!!

OSU is by far my #1. Past rankings, location (closest to me personally), and excellent access to residency programs have me sold..
