As the ranking period approaches, I was just wondering if some of you would mind discussing what your main places of interest are right now, and why?

Also, did any programs stand out negatively to you, and why?

I posted an earlier thread about Stanford and Mayo having no separate peds ER, but got very few replies save one (thanks, BPKurtz!) Does anyone have any input on these programs?!

Thanks a lot!

Which area are you from? because my rank list have a lot to do with the area. Namely I want to stay in the NYC area. I think I will be ranking Montefiore rather highly, because it is well rounded, has a great new hospital with great computer system, great nursing staff (as far as I can tell while doing an elective) and great child life staff. I haven't finished interviewing though, so not sure which one will be number one yet.

Nothing particularly negative about places, except that DC children did ask the interviewee questions during the case presentation which I wasn't prepared for. Jacobi is incredibly nice but seems like a program for someone whos fairly certain he/she wants to go into primary care or ER. RWJ seems to have overwhelming number of residents staying in the area secondary to family ties/spouses, not for the program.

Other than that... everyone's been very nice, nothing that will prevent me from ranking it.
