You've told me before about the negative aspects. However...you came out of it and are doing pretty well 🙂
Exception that proves the rule.
While I was there, we went through 4 program coordinators (secretaries), 2 PD's ( One fired/stepped down under pressure, the other left the department for a better job; the dept Chair assumed the title fall of 2004) 3 other faculty left for better positions, 2 PGY2's left when I was a PGY4, one PGY2 left my PGY2 year.
I cannot even begin to comment on the dept chair or the PD that stepped down. The program was placed on probation in 2004 for about a week, and this was able to be overturned with the help of some of the wonderful faculty at EVMS in both the administration and from other departments. (Actually no sarcasm- I thought the dean and the associate dean did all the appropriate things acting in the best interest in the school. After all, I did get my certificate.
Suffice it to say, I cannot recommend EVMS PMR, nor would I consider hiring one of their residents into the fellowship program. Now if the climate there changes and they get adequate staff, a new PD, a better PIF, elective rotations, an actual education, etc..... then they would turn the program around. If they want to bring me back in 10 years to run the show- I'd consider it because Hampton Roads is a great place to live. I'd just need huge bags of money to make it worthwhile.
