Not a dumb question at all. I’ve actually heard this from quite a few students over the years.

A clean, well-groomed beard is totally fine for interviews. The key is that it looks intentional and professional. You don’t need to shave it off unless it makes you feel more confident walking in. Lots of dentists (and even faculty) wear beards , just make sure it’s neat and you feel put together overall.

If you’re worried it might distract you or make you second guess anything, going clean shaven can be the “safe” choice, but either way you’ll be fine.
