can someone explain that to me?
how is Fe2O3+MgCl2-->FeCl3+MgO a balanced equation?
 
the question is this:
What are the products of balanced equation when iron (III) oxide reacts with magnesium Chloride.
Answer :FeCl3, MgO
And all the explaination that they give is Fe2O3+MgCl2-->FeCl3+MgO
I just dun get this plz help
I dunno which part this i overlook

I'm wondering the same thing..the balanced equation they gave is NOT actually balanced! Is this an error?

I think you overlooked this question a bit brother.

It is simply a double replacement question.

Answer is FeCl3 and MgO regardless whether the reaction is balanced or not.

Fe2O3 -----> Fe 3+ O 2-

MgCl2 ------> Mg 2+ Cl -1

Do the double replacement you get

FeCl3 and Mg2O2 (which is MgO)

Ugh. How would we know that it's not meant to be balanced entirely? Especially when it says..what are the products of the BALANCED equation :/
