Topscore Math question

Question 12 topscore test 2. Basically its a simle rate problem
A can do 5000 piece order in 4 days and B in 5 days how long will it take if both work together (they add a lot of wording to make it sound hard but its as simple as this)

4/20 +5/20=9/20 =1/T so Time=20/9 or 2 and 2/9 days

or 4*5/4+5 also = 20/9

There was no choice that said 2 and a fraction days but there was 3 1/2 and also 4 1/2 they say to pick 3 because you need 3 days but it seems ridiculous to me. If you are going to round that generously then all the answer choices should be whole numbers, not some whole, some fractions and the answer choice (as a fraction not given) being quite far off from the real answer. I wasted 2 mins on this question because i knew it was so easy and I was probably making an easy mistake and KNEW i could get it. I understand 3 is the best choice but it threw me off seeing other fractions but not the one I wanted. Wow really needed to vent!

HAHA yea you really did need to vent a bit! Anyways, I just took topscore test 2 on sunday, so I had the same problem. It bothered me that the exact answer was there but you would never round that down to 2. If its asking how many days, well they need more than 2, so 3 is definitely the best choice.

Anyways, how did you do on Topscore test 2? and when are you taking the DAT?

Sometimes you get screwed with this. Just ALWAYS remember that if the exact answer is not there and you are positive your answer is correct, you have to decide if you should round down or up. In this case it wants to know how many days they need to work. If you rounded down to 2, the job would not get done. Thus you need the next highest number above your answer which is 3.

It was my first full length and got really bored in the PAT section. Many of the hole punching violated rules one of the cube counting didnt have correct number of cubes (i checked 10 times) and I thought 2 of the choices in aperture passing were the same and finished like 13 mins early and wasnt interested in going back.

The QR bothered me coulda really done better like the one at the end with the car discount I got all the numbers but picked the final price not the discount and also made silly mistake on the chord problem I used 4 not 2 plus a few others. I thought 2 needed a calculator (especially the roof pail one)

Havent done orgo in a while so it was awesome to score that high got the sugar thing wrong I thought it was alpha 1,4 and also got the kmno4 test wrong.

I was happy with these scores for a first practice test and hope to keep improving and learn from my mistakes.
My test is July 17th (I with I started practicing tests earlier now Im gana have to cram em in but I guess its good practice)

Yea youre right but I wasted over 2 mins doing it. (Did both formulas to make sure got same answer and not a math mistake) Then thought about it from logical point of view, which stinks considering time is precious on QR!

Damn sweet scores man, especially orgo 🙂. Your name implies that you might like orgo. Did you just take o cchem this past year or have you done destroyer?? i could use some advice, i took orgo two years ago, so its hard to remember stuff. i know this section would have been a joke if i took it right after orgo but oh well.

I take my DAT July 19, right after you. My topscore tests were spread out and for some reason I took test 1, then test 3 two weeks later, then test 2 this past sunday. So test 2 was my last practice test before the real deal. I got:

Bio 21
Chem 19
Orgo 19
PAT 22
RC 20
QR 22

AA 20

Im working to improve orgo and gchem with destroyer right now. Btw, look over the g chem really closely, topscore likes to be really tricky.

Yea I did just take Organic this past year. My class didn't cover some of this stuff though we basically did crazy mechanisms all second semester. But for preparation in Orgo your on the right track ith the Destroyer. Its awesome! I went through Organic prob 2 or 3 times and got 22 on topscore 1 (only took OChem section) and 25 on this one. Many of my friends have been rocking the Orgo section with 24+ in the last 2 weeks an they all told me that more than any other section Destroyer was the key

Awesome, thanks man. I was hoping that Destroyer would pay-off. Going through the problems is really helping me remember the material (today was my second day doing orgo and im half-way through). It would be really nice to get a 20+ orgo. Looks like youve got that on lock.

As for achiever, I chose not to purchase it. Ive been mulling it over for a while and decided Topscore was sufficient. At this stage in the game, I dont think bombing a test helps at all. It will just destroy your confidence. Ive been checking people's DAT scores vs Topscore and the sciences tend to be right on. A lot of people do better in chem on the real DAT than Topscore, so I dont need achiever telling me I suck at science haha. Plus, mental endurance really isnt a problem, so for me, 3 tests was sufficient practice. Now its just destroyer and looking at my study guides.
