Hi everyone! I was accepted into both tOSU and NCSU CVM this cycle and am having some trouble deciding between the two. My current interest is in small animal and potentially specializing in surgery or oncology (most likely this will change, but just some keen interests). If anyone has any advice/insight on either or both schools in any aspect, it would be greatly appreciated! Also, if anyone knows how establishing residency in NC works and could explain that to me, that would be great as well. Thanks in advance!

Here’s what I've heard about NCSU after interviewing last month. They're rumored to get a brand new cancer center this year. They also have access to cutting edge cancer research as part of the research triangle. However, I've heard students say that some of the current SA surgeons have a short temper but there will be new faculty hired soon. Raleigh is also a really nice town!

Both schools have robust cancer programs including radiation oncology. Maybe it just comes down to what town or state you like better?

Unless tOSU is offering you significant recruitment scholarships, NCSU is the cheaper option by approximately $88k. Go with the least expensive option.

Reach out to NCSU directly on how to obtain residency or search within SDN. It's been discussed many times in the past several years and seems to be doable.

Congrats on your acceptances!
