I looked on their website and and calculated the 4 years of tuition and fees to be slightly greater than $200,000, which is what most private US schools would cost anyway. However, the hard thing I am having a hard time finding out how much students typically borrow over the intire four years (including misscellaneous expences, such as room & board, flights home, etc). Anyone know the answer??

i assmue it serpaerate, but in light of the fact that SGU's tuition is crazy expensive, I am compelled to as if that tuition cost covers housing as well??

If not, I saw housing prices on the SGU website. However, only a single price was listed, which failed to say rather the price was monthly or by semester (no rate was given and assuming is foollish in my opinion) Could someone please clarify?

Also, I am a board certified Medical Technologist (ASCP/NCA) and planned to work maybe one day a week while attending medical school in an attempt to borrow as little money as possible via loans. Is working maybe 8-10 hours a week realisitic/allowed or would I have to take another cerification exam and apply for a different lisense?

Sorry if this has been discussed previously. I did conduct a search on the internet as well as this site. I just could not find what i was looking for.

Thanks

SGU's tuition ($46,000 a year plus fees) is definitely on the higher side of most US private schools. Besides, many US private schools offer grants and scholarships. For instance, Pritzker at the University of Chicago this year gave most of its incoming students over $100,000 in scholarship money, regardless of need. Furthermore, US medical students can get the full Stafford loan, while students at SGU get only up to $20,500 in Stafford loans and must borrow the rest from GraduatePlus (8.5% interest) or private loans.

So think hard about this.

total cost will be $250 to $300K. and there are scholarships that are given out to SGU students check with the school for more info.

sgu is one of the more costlier caribbean medical schools out there but you get what you pay for. they have higher retention rates, you do not have to pay for classes you repeat, and the rotations process (3rd and 4th year) are a lot smoother. other caribbean schools may make you pay for the whole repeating semester even if you only failed one class. also the retention rates at other schools can be much lower. when you start doing rotations with other carib schools, they might make you move around a lot causing you to lose money that way too. sgu is expensive but it could be worth it. those tuition fees do not include room and board.
