On the application, they have the box for total number of hours for basically anything you did (volunteer, job, extracurriculars, etc.) I have no f*ing clue how many hours I spent on this stuff. 😳 Ummm... a lot. Too bad we can only enter numerical responses.

So what are you all doing? Estimate?

Obviously estimating makes sense. However, the total hours spent is not a required field. Are any of you just leaving it blank? For instance, if you were a resident advisor for an entire year, how do you count the hours for that? Your position is every hour of every day for the year. This is where I am getting confused.

Estimate and estimate high, because everyone will estimate and you want to estimate higher than the last guy estimated.

dont some schools require you to show proof or something, so I would probably try and estimate a legit amount as oppose to a high amount so that if they ask for proof they match

According to an applicant from last year that applied to about 20 schools, no schools require proof of anything except maybe a signature on shadowing hours from your dentists.

BE HONEST about it! When you estimate don't double it or make up a bunch of bogus stuff!

hardest part of AADSAS... estimating total hours of work experience... 🙁

Can't tell if this is a serious post but...

Why would you estimate high? If you want to look like you did more than you actually did, just plain lie. So simple.

In regards to the RA - I would put in the amount of hours work was actually done. e.g. paperwork, floor activities, floor meeting etc. So, 2-3 hours/week realistically. Sure, you can put 10 hours per week, but then you run into them asking you, what have you done for 300 hours per month, or 3,000 per year? If you do that, might as well put 50 hours per week. At least then you can say "I spent 10 hours a day in my room, therefore doing my duty"

...................why resurrect the 5-year old thread?

i was going to make a new thread but then this related thread popped up.. so i just commented on it instead lol

How does that work?
