Like everyone else, I just received my August MCAT score and it was not what I would have hoped for: 29S, with 11V, 10B and 8PS. (I hate physics!) GPA: 3.86 post-bac science. BCPM: 3.63 (including C- from undergrad). Overall: 3.60, Grad (law school) GPA: 3.41.

Has anyone with these stats gotten into UChicago, UVa, Yale, Cornell or Penn? I would love to attend any of these schools and am deciding whether or not to go forward with my secondaries at these schools.

I filed applications already with Jefferson, Wash U, NYU, Columbia, UF and the military med school. I am also applying to Drexel, Temple, GW, Georgetown, Tulane, Stony Brook, Yeshiva, Mt. Sinai, Wake Forest, UMiami, Creighton and Case Western. Any other suggestions?

You're reaching for some of the better schools.

However, you're a strong candiate for most average schools.

Good luck,
S

i think that's a good mix....as for the chicago/yale type schools, i can't really say - they're competitive to get in to, and no one can bank on it.

but you're a very strong candidate for temple, drexel, jefferson, nyu, tulane, etc etc....and case western...i have a lower gpa than you and interviewed at case last month

You are 4 to 5 points below the average matriculant MCAT for Yale and Cornell. Your gpa is good, but not stellar, and even if if it were a 4.0, elite med schools are unlikely to extend you love. It doesn't hurt to have a few stretch schools on your list, but realize that with your stats, they are pretty unlikely to admit you. You're a little closer to the Chicago and UVA averages, so your odds are better at these two, though still not very good.

As mentioned, you are quite competitive for the mid-range schools.

Wow...what a great school list. I just wanna give my two cents. I had 11V, 10PS, 8 BS (I loved physics, but have never been as jazzed about intro bio). Now get this....according to AMCAS's calculations I have 3.16 GPA cumulative, 2.72 BCMP, 3.82 grad school (MA). Weird...

I got in early decision....first try. I figure you are fine.

I don't believe that all the students at the schools you listed (or any school for that matter) are 4.0, 40T people. I just can't believe that the entire world of doctors is that narrow.

Apply anywhere you want. GOOD LUCK!!!!

It is a mad, mad, mad, mad process.
:luck: :luck: :luck: :luck: 😀

Hi. I'm a 4th year at Yale. Did you actually finish law school? If so, this will help you a good bit. I wouldn't think the 29 would totally exclude you if you have an otherwise strong application. Yale loves non-traditional aspects in appliancts, like going to law school first. We had two lawyers in my class (one from Yale, one from Stanford) and had one do a joint MD/JD.

Good luck!

Is Yale so little work that 4th years have time to hang out on the pre-allo forums? Wow. I should apply there. =P
