If all of the chloride in 5.0 g sample of an unknown metal chloride is precipitated as AgCl with 70.9 mL of 0.201 M AgNO3, what is the % of chloride in the sample?

a. 50.55 %
b. 20.22 %
c. 1.43 %
d. 10.10 %
e. none of above.

What is the correct answer. I belive the one on Barron is wrong. THANKS! :p

d. 10.10%

70.9 * 10^-3 * 0.201 * 35.5 = 0.5059 g CL

0.5059 / 5 = ~10%

double check my math

no i think hes right - it says in the sample, so you multiply by cl only

Where did the 10^3 come from? Is this a "conventional" type of chemistry problem?
