Hi Guys,
I have been accepted at University of Chicago recently and I am waiting to hear from LECOM in PA. I am not sure what to do since I really want to attend osteopathic school. Any advise will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

How soon does University of Chicago need an answer? I would probably wait as long as possible and hope to hear from LECOM soon. They won't give away your spot until your deadline is up.

I'm sure that the U of Chicago must have a deadline for the first deposit...so just give LECOM some time to process your information before signing up for Chicago. If you already interviewed at LECOM, their turn around time is about two weeks (that's what it was for me). And if you go into an interview with one acceptance, it weighs in your favor of getting accepted to another school. If your deadline for Chicago is approaching and you haven't heard back from LECOM or if you haven't interviewed yet, call them, tell them your situation and I'm sure they would consider getting you in for an interview or reviewing your final file quickly.

Good luck!

Which one is cheaper... that should be the question.

Wow.....for me it would be a no-brainer.

U of C.

It has nothing to do with DO or MD.....U of C is just an outstanding medical school, with facilities that are rivaled by almost no one.

Don't allopathic schools return your deposit before 5/15 or something like that? I do remember that most allopathic schools have their deposits that are refundable. You can secure your spot first at U Chicago and withdraw if necessary.

Exactly, there would be no hesitation in my mind whatsoever.

I guess it all depends what you're looking to get out of your medical school experience. I'm an MS I at LECOM at the moment and I have no complaints at this point. I don't know a lot about Univ. of Chicago, but know they are a great school. I can only compare things from this perspective... I did a Master's program at Boston Univ. School of Medicine before attending LECOM. In comparison Boston's facilities and opportunities far outweigh what is available here at LECOM. I imagine this would be true with a comparison between LECOM and U of Chicago. If price is a factor, I gurantee LECOM is going to be a lot cheaper than U of Chicago. If you have any specific questions about LECOM, let me know and I'll try to help if possible. Good luck w/ your decision. In either case though, the medical school is experience is truly going to be what you make of it.
