I am currently a junior at a large state school majoring in Biomedical Engineering. I have a 4.0 and got a 24 AA and 22 PAT on the DAT. I was accepted to my in-state dental school to start next August. I will not graduate with a degree this spring. I also have an interview at Columbia on Jan 20th (applied to here late, hence the late interview).
My question is this: Should I go to my state dental school early and forgo the bachelors degree or get my bachelors and try to get into a ivy league school next year. I want to eventually practice OMFS so I would really like to hear from anyone with knowledge on whether a residency program would care that I wouldn't have a bachelors degree.

My gut tells me to go since I have a long road ahead of me already and that if i perform well in dental school I will be able to get the residency of my choice anyhow.

did you make a note that you will not be finishing your degree? if not, the school would assume you will be completing and graduating with a bachelors I am assuming. You should probably even see if its possible to start Dental school without the bachelors.

EASY DECISION. Check with admission to see if your acceptance is conditional with a bachelor degree or not. If not then skip your bachelor and go to dental school right away. The less student loans the better off you'll be. Half of bs degree are pc garbage anyway. Ask the Occupy Wall street crowd near your home how bs their bs is to them and then go for your dds.

yeah the school knows. I put spring 2013 on the adea application for expected graduation date and it was discussed in my interview. It also says on their FAQs that a bachelors is not required. Thanks for the advice
