We were told it is not, but you can ask for a short extension on the two weeks.

You can ask, but most likely you've made a $2000 donation to touro. It's my understanding that the $1000 deposit due in May is refundable, but not the initial one.

My first choice is Touro-CA and I applied super early in order to get the best chance... I have 3.64 science GPA, 3.55 total GPA and my Mcats aren't great 25M (10p,9b,6v) but I have tons of volunteer/research and work experience.... what do you think? I applied to all Cali MD schools (not a great chance of getting anything there) and both Touros, western and Arizona...

ouch! $2000? thats insane. how long is the extension? how about western... how much is their deposit? so do most people put down the deposit if they are holding out for another acceptance, or do most people just go to the first place that accepts them (even if its not their first choice)?

I made a $2,000 donation to Touro as well... non-refundable. 😛

Well it depends on what your situation is. I wouldn't say that most people do one thing over the other. If the school wasn't your first choice, then the best/safest thing to do is put down that deposit in case things don't work out in the end and you have at least one med school that has accepted you (it's better than having no acceptance at all :scared: ). And others may be lucky and get their first acceptance from one of their top schools and decide to decline from the others. Or when it's late in the game, whichever school takes them first they'll accept.

I think Western's is $1000, but double check. I remember checking all of this out when I was deciding what DO schools to apply to - it was an issue for me, especially when you're applying both ways. I know OUCOM's is MUCH better, like an init $250 or something; DMU's and AZCOM's I think are like $500 init...Seriously it is a hassle these DO deposits eh 🙂

AZCOM's initial deposit is 250.

Yep, 250 up front then 750 a few months later (depending on when you're accepted), which gives you some time to consider other schools before committing to a large deposit. I believe the initial 250 is refundable to a certain point too. And of course if you put down the full grand it goes towards your tuition.
