Touro Middletown
Pros
  • Close to home (from NJ)
  • I am interested in Radiology and their match list shows that they have students matching in Radiology
  • great match list over all and a good name.
  • can come back home for the 4th year but I heard they are not supportive setting that up for you.
Cons
  • A lot more expensive than WVSOM. The difference would be 20K more per year if not way more
  • Student seem a lot more stressed and depressed than WVSOM.
  • Not P/F

WVSOM
Pros
  • Great new curriculum. Golden weekends and a week off every block and chance to remediate during that week.(typically every 8-10 weeks)
  • Very supportive environment and cost effective
  • can come back home for the 4th year and they will help you find places.
Cons
  • Pretty far from home
  • No one matched Radiology for a couple of years.
  • board pass rate is not looking super good 89% while Touro is well into the 93%+
Question: I have seen that people who matched into radiology at WVSOM match through a translational year or PGY2 spot. What does that mean? what is the difference between that or matching from the start if that makes sense?

TIA
ETA a con

WVSOM.

You're 50-year-old self will thank you for the tuition money you've saved. And matching into a particular specialty is less on the school than on the student. Personal choices, after all.
