I've been searching around the forums and on their website, but i still can't figure out if Touro Nevada has patient simulators (dummies).

Can anyone please help me out?

Also, do you think that patient simulators are extremely beneficial in your medical education?

I don't go to Touro-NV, I'm at one of my state schools. But I did interview there last October.

I don't remember whether or not they had the dummies you are talking about but I distinctly remember that they had "actor" patients from the University of Nevada - LV. Apparently the people who take acting at UNLV get credit and a grade for how good of a patient they can be when examined by Touro-NV students. It seemed like a really cool thing - it was one of the major things I remember from the interview.

I'm not at Touro so I don't know if they have the simulators. However, without making extra effort, so far through half of third year I've used a patient simulator since coming here 3 times. Clubs use them and so do some of the residents, but they're not used so frequently you'd missing out.

Patient simulators are next to useless as tools to teach medical students. There is a reason why the 3rd and 4th years of medical school are based in the clinics. ...Because this is when you learn to take care of human beings, not during your first two years through the use of a mannequin.

Thanks for all the replies. Looking at some medical school admissions pamphlets it seems like they make the dummy simulators appear more beneficial then they actually are. Thanks for filling me in! Now to choose a school...😕

I'm 99% sure they have patient actors come in at Touro Nevada. It's good practice, but I'd hate to have a non-medical person grading me on my clinical skills.
