I would check with the TouroCOM financial aid office. They'll be able to tell you: 1) if they could offer you any aid (scholarships) and 2) how you could proceed on getting a private loan through the school or the best outside source.

I bought the Lenovo Yoga 2 11-inch last year. It's pretty good. Lasts 5-6 hours on full charge. I liked that it was touchscreen and has 2 USB ports. However, the main reason I wanted a touchscreen computer is to be able to take notes on it with a stylus and possibly save some trees, which isn't really possible with this laptop. I can, however, sign documents and highlight books which is good enough I guess. I wish I invested in the Microsoft Suface or an iPad Air. My professor has a Lenovo idea pad and it does everything I want but it's on the bulky side. Here's some advice: 1) definitely know what you want out of a laptop (ports, backlight, portability, functionality, etc.) -- granted you probably won't get everything on your wish list but at least you'll have an idea; 2) do your research (I used CNET, YouTube, reviewers on best buy before actually going in the store.); 3) know the market -- holidays, back to school, seasonal= sale opportunities on technology. Also, if there's a newer version coming out then the older version will likely be on sale. Just get the older version if they're essentially the same. (Ex. iPad air vs iPad Air 2... No noticeable difference. Whereas iPad mini 1st gen vs 2nd gen there's a screen resolution difference which is a deal breaker in my opinion.) Hope this helps. Happy shopping 😉
 
Has anyone who was accepted in February received the admissions package yet, or the financial aid stuff. I know a couple people have but haven't received anything here yet.

I've been put on the wait list as well. I called today to get more info about the wait list. I was told there is usually a good chance of being taken off the wait list but we won't hear anything until May or early June...Touro re-examines the wait list in May. I know how you feel, I am pretty bummed too. But, let's stay positive, we weren't rejected...so there is still a chance!

I have a question about how this program works; if we maintain a 3.5 gpa in the program and pass the comprehensive exam and have good recommendations from faculty, are we guaranteed admission to the DO school? or will we have to re-apply to the DO school through AACOMAS?

Hi all, first time posting here. Thanks everyone for the information provided about the program; it has helped me a lot to know more about it and learn about the application process. I submitted my application in the first week of March and waiting eagerly for an interview invite. Congrats for those of you that already were accepted and as well to those put on the waiting list.
Do you guys know if there are still a lot of open seats? I would like to email Ms. Portnoy and ask about my status but dont want to seem desperate.
For those of you that were waitlisted, do you mind sharing your stats? Do you think that it was due to the interview or due to your stats that you guys were waitlisted?

Yea, I know what you mean. Hopefully we will be accepted off the wait list...I just really hope we hear something before June! Moving to NY with short notice would be a pain!

My app is finally complete for review. I hope the committee meets this week.
 
Hi guys! I just got accepted in to the masters do program! Pretty excited! I was wondering if anyone that has completed this program or is going, knows any specifics about how many people actually get in to the med school or things along those lines can please e-mail me. I started a Facebook group. I've searched through FB and couldn't find any that were for the Masters program for our class. I know that there is a mentor/mentee group, but i've tried to request to be in it and I still haven't heard anything. I dont think its being utilized anymore. So hopefully this will be a great way for those of us who were accepted to correspond and get to know one another.

Interviewed last Monday and I just received my acceptance today too. For anyone wondering, it comes in an email format with a decision letter attached. I wasn't expecting that so I didn't think it was good news lol. Good luck to everyone else still in the application process!!!

Woah congrats! I didn't think they were getting back to people so quickly anymore. When was you application complete? And how long did you wait for an interview invitation?

Thank you!! I may be a special case cause I was notified that my transcripts were received on 3/2/15 but then my science LOR weren't received until 3/12/15. And that same day on 3/12/15, I was notified that my app was complete, reviewed, and was offered an interview invite. I think the committee might have been meeting on that day. Who knows. But to answer your question, I didn't wait long for an interview invitation lol.

Yup, there are two requirements needed for admission into the D.O. program: a 3.5 cumulative GPA within the program and a passing score on the comprehensive exam at the end of the year. As long as you have those you are automatically guaranteed a spot. No need to apply again.

I was accepted in Feb but haven't received anything yet but a friend of mine was accepted on the same day as me and she received hers. Very weird to me..

They have accepted people with scores lower than that so keep faith alive. I heard straight from an admissions director that they have accepted people with scores in the teens before so don't lose hope!!!

Hi everyone,

For those taking the summer anatomy course, I've been talking with a current student who is planning to sublease her apartment for the summer. It would be helpful to stay in a sublease while looking for a place for the school year. The apartment is in Washington Heights, 4 bedroom, newly renovated, about 20-30 minutes from school (3 train stops, I believe). She asked me to pass on her name so feel free to message me if you'd like more info!

Yes, I received the syllabus after submitting my ap to the correct email...I submitted my ap for the class a couple of weeks ago and didn't hear anything back within a week. I checked Touro's website to find that the email to send the ap to had changed. I sent my ap to the new email and received a syllabus in a couple of days. Not sure if you ran into the same problem or not.

I was accepted in Feb too, but haven't received anything either. I had been in contact with Beth a couple of weeks ago and I know that they were putting together enrollment packages, so I don't think we are entirely forgotten.

On that note, don't we get the syllabi for our classes in this package? I thought I read that somewhere...
 
Did you guys receive any emails during the admissions process? Any emails saying that you were missing a transcript or LOR, or that your app was complete?
 
when does the committee usually meet? I have been complete for two weeks. should i call or just wait it out?

I basically emailed Beth every week or so for a status update. That's how I found out they were missing a transcript and also when my app was complete, which was just last week.

Finally got an email from Toni Daniels about submitting a FAFSA. I know some people received 3 emails regarding financial aid but I just got this one. Happy that things are moving forward though...
