Seems like they're all the hype. I'm a rising sophomore and I've started to gather study materials (ordered TBR science books and official guide yay). I'm not sure if I should purchase the Hyperlearning Verbal workbook, it's quite a lot more expensive than other books, like let's say the ExamKrackers 101 which is also very highly recommended. Another issue is that it seems like TPR publishes new versions of the workbook very often, and since I'm not taking the MCATs for another year and a half/two years, would it be a big deal if I get the 2012 version? I'm thinking no but you never know hahah. I'm probably getting the EK 101 book just because, so I just wanted to hear from people who've used the Hyperlearning book and have taken the exam.

Thanks in advance! 🙂

I know SN2ED recommends it but i just like you am highly skeptical. The book its fairly expensive if you can even find it (primarily on ebay) and theres plenty of other verbal books you can buy for way cheaper.

I've been using TPR verbal workbook with EK 101. I feel they complement each other because TPR's passages tend to be longer/boring/dry/etc, but EK 101's questions are trickier and more similar to the AAMC ones. TPR passages will help you work on focusing and time management when dealing with passages you find boring and EK101 will give you more practice on thinking through the questions.

I would suggest both if possible as the poster above me described. But I also posted about this a few days ago because with the EK 101 book I am consistently scoring 10s while on the AAMC FLs I have been consistently scoring 8s on VR. So I am actually going to try the TPRH Verbal Workbook to see if it does me any good.
