This may sound like a silly question, but how are dental shadowing hours and volunteer hours tracked?

Am I just supposed to keep track of the number of hours I've shadowed on my own? How are they reported when I apply to dental school?

Yes, just keep track of them youself. When you fill out your aadsas application there is a space for the dentist's name, address, and hours spent (in whatever capacity).

It gets a little hairy when you have to compute the 'hours' spent when it has been a long time, for example I worked with a dentist for about 2 years, for several hours each day, it ended up being some ridiculous number. Weird system, but it works I supppose.

Easiest way is to make an excel sheet.
