Traditional Rotating Internship Before???

Will allopathic neurology residencies accept an allopathic traditional rotating internship? I have heard that all ACGME neurology programs require atleast 6 months of medicine during intern year. Can you simply choose to do 6 months of medicine during your traditional rotating year to fulfill this requirement.... or do you have to do a preliminary medicine year?

I thought most programs required atleast 9 months of internal medicine.
