Hey all,
I've applied to all UCCs for internships. One of the training experience I'm most looking forward to is co-facilitating interpersonal process groups and providing supervision. Most, not all sites on my ranking list will provide both opportunities. I'm tempted to rank a site that's in a desreable location and seems to be a great fit personality-wise high, even though they don't do process groups.

So my question is this: If I don't have the above two opportunities on internship, will there be chances to train in these areas later in my career? Or should I really prioritize these things in my rank order list?

Might want to check out Tavistock groups or Group Relations Conferences in areas of interest. I know there are trainings in Chicago, NY, London. etc.

There are also a variety of local and regional associations for group therapy (beyone the psychoanalytic/dynamic ones above), usually interdisciplinary, and one good way to get post-grad training in a specialty area. The idea that training will be "done" at the end of pre- or post-doc is an illusion--the process goes on your whole career in this interesting field. Just get good basic competencies for entry level work in a place that will be supportive of finishing your degree. No one place will have them all and there are always opportunities later for areas like this.
